Let me preface by saying San Marcos has been my family's favorite for YEARS, back to when they were in College Park. The food was good, although it's gotten a little pricey over the past few years, even before Covid, the service was good, we enjoyed the atmosphere. I recently tried to place a take out order, which I've done several times and it was a bad experience from the beginning, which has NEVER happened before. The "manager", at least he told me he was the manager, was rude from the very beginning. Took my order, stomped away, left me standing there...didn't take my payment, didn't tell me he would be right back or even be back in a few minutes. I finally sat down to wait...still not a big deal, but was a little surprised by the rudeness & attitude. He came back after anout 10 minutes...still no big deal as I wasn't in a hurry...slammed my order down on the counter and barked/yelled at me what my total was. All this time I still have no idea why he's being so rude. When I paid, I asked for a receipt as the order I placed was for several things for several different people. This "manager" tore off the receipt from the cash register, which has only the total on it. I asked for an itemized receipt and he starts yelling at me and jabbing his finger on the receipt telling me that's the receipt. I calmly repeat that I need an itemized receipt. He takes the order book and again yells at me...pointing at numbers he'd written down when he took my order. For the 3rd time I calmly ask for a printed itemized receipt and he yells at me that he can't do that, he gave me a receipt. When I asked for the owner/manager (which I know for a fact this man is not the owner, at least not the owner I know of) he starts pointing at himself and tells me he's the manager. I then tell him that's okay, I've changed my mind, he can keep the oder and give me back my money. He then slams the cash register drawer open to give me back my money. Not sure why asking for an itemized receipt was such an issue - it's pretty standard practice for most purchases - and if that had been the only issue, I could've shrugged it off. But the absolute rudeness & nasty attitude from the first minute I walked in the door was uncalled for. I will NEVER set foot in San Marcos again, especially as I messaged the owner on FB and have yet to get a response. There are PLENTY of other great Mexican restaurants in the Meridian area that are more than happy to accept my business & money with a pleasant attitude. I suppose being voted the #1 Mexican restaurant in Meridian and hobnobbing with "important" people entitles one to run their business in this manner. In the future, my family will visit places of business that appreciate & show kindness to...
Read moreWorse Mexican food I ever had! I discovered this restaurant through the app. DoorDash. The app it self works perfectly fine. The delivery services was on time and driver was great! How ever, the food from this restaurant was absolutely a waist of my hard earned money! I ordered the steak burrito, shrimp quesadilla and churroz for desert. Sounds appetizing doesn't it? I was absolutely, disgusted! I was hungry as hell and still ended up tossing out my shrimp quesadilla because the shrimp tasted like they were over cooked and had an taste as if they were not properly stored and the cheese was not good combination. The churroz were burnt and not properly cooked and I had to toss them out as well. Then the order came with ice cream that looked like milk by the time I received it. The steak I can say was ok but the flour shell was soggy. The meat, I could actually eat. Over all in my opinion, I might as well have ordered a steak taco because this was the smallest burrito I ever had! If you ask me, this place is in desperate need of Chef Ramsey because this food looked and tasted like it came from Hells Kitchen. I had to look out my door to see if Ashton Cushiner was outside to check and see if I was being PUNKED! Over all I give it a 1 star for effort and for the DoorDash service absolutely 5 stars! Thanks for reading. Sincerely yours....
Read moreMy grandson and I had dinner at San Marcos a couple days ago. I would give five stars all around IF the venue were not in such an unsafe location. Not only was it extremely difficult to get into the street to leave because of oncoming traffic but when I finally WAS able to get out, we noticed a white Altima in the lane beside us with two people in it, pointing at us and acting suspicious. They followed us closely until we got to the entrance of MCC where I noticed two police cars in the loop and turned into the college driveway. The Altima then sped away quickly. The food and the service was very good at San Marcos but not good enough to risk our lives for! I would love it if Chino would consider a second location maybe in Northhills or highway 39? I mean if El Norte can have multiple locations why NOT San Marcos? My family and I have decided NEVER to return to that area again with the...
