Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department — Local services in Mesquite

Highly frustrated with the Mesquite Parks and Recreations department regarding reservations for my wedding at West Lake House. For one, they can't do reservations over the phone, you have to go in person to which they are only open from Monday through Friday 8-5...That is generally when people are at work, myself included, so they expect people to just take time off work to come in person?? If you don't have an option to do it over the phone at least have the courtesy of adding an option to do it online!! That is ridiculous! Second, I told the lady over the phone that I was wanting to use the gazebo for my ceremony and she said that's fine but I would have to bring my own chairs. Um excuse me, why should I have to do that when you have perfectly good folding chairs that I can bring outside? She said they are only to be used inside. I told her that I saw 2 pictures of them being used inside and out and she rudely said "Well I don't know where you saw those but they can't be used outside". The park workers are some of the laziest workers I've ever seen. They pull up and sit in there cars for almost an hour doing nothing, listening to music. It's almost comical to watch. Got young men walking around like there 100 years old. They sit in groups chatting about random stuff unrelated to work. They act like some pseudo security/police, I've had one of there trucks literally follow me on the trail at one of the parks, they stopped and waited for me to exit a wooded area on the trail then continued...

I called to ask about some information on their youth softball, the lady that answered the call was very rude and condescending. She was very short with her answers, I kept my self calm and polite, but her tone was rude. I finally asked to be transferred with a different person, the man I spoke to was great very polite and helpful. I suggest they change the person answering the phones, their job is little people interaction and communication, if they don't enjoy speaking to people they should definitely...
