I used to love this place although they've always been very slow. It seems they're even slower than before and for not very high quality food. Since I switched my diet to organic non gmo it's challenging to find delight eating conventional no quality garbage food. The taste is night and day.
I rarely eat out these days because I bring my own food with me most days. I use Pasture Raised eggs and they taste tremendously better.
I stopped here recently to get breakfast. They took forever and sold-out an entire tray of pastelitos to 1 customer. I paid for 1 pastelito already to go with my sandwich and had to pick something else. I chose a doughnut and it was a brick, inedible. Nowhere, not a single restaurant should ever serve that old of food to a customer. How disgusting.
Their sister store at the Orion gas station didn't want to do anything about it, so neither stores care about ripping off customers or handling their own mistakes with proper due remedy. I still have to get fuel but I don't have to eat here again and most likely will not after that doughnut brick they sold me. Talk about having zero honor or integrity.
I may even switch gas stations because of this and multiple issues with their systems dumb setups. You can't use the same cc to fuel twice within 24 hours at this station. Hopefully the bp will be up and running again soon, it's being remodeled.
I'm very disgusted with both places atm moment but especially this one. Selling people expired food is bad business. No thank you. No telling how old that doughnut was? May have been weeks? Reputable places keep track of the age of their pastries and sell day old ones half price, at 48 hours they toss the remaining ones out or give them away. They do not sell pastries aged over 48 hours when people expect to receive freshly made ones. Very disappointing. Huge...
Read moreMy recent visit left me deeply disappointed due to the poor customer service and outright rudeness displayed by the staff, particularly an elderly lady at the cashier. From the moment I walked in, I sensed an unwelcoming atmosphere, but things took a turn for the worse when I approached the counter to inquire about their sandwiches.
I politely asked the elderly lady at the cashier, "What sandwich would you recommend?" Instead of a helpful response, she proceeded to yell at me, as if my question was an inconvenience to her. Her abrupt and rude manner caught me off guard, leaving me feeling embarrassed and frustrated.
Despite the initial unpleasant encounter, I decided to proceed with ordering, hoping the rest of my experience would improve. Unfortunately, the poor service continued throughout. The staff seemed disinterested and lacked basic courtesy.
Moreover, the cleanliness of the dining area left much to be desired, with tables left uncleared and a general sense of neglect evident throughout the establishment.
Overall, my visit was marred by rude customer service and a lack of professionalism. It is disappointing to encounter such treatment in what should be a place of hospitality and enjoyment. I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to prevent others from having similar negative experiences...
Read moreAs much as I frequent Miami Springs, I did not have the pleasure of trying it until Hurricane Irma. My mom had often times mentioned Downstairs but I literally thought she meant she went downstairs of a building. Judgment free zone here.
After Irma passed, this restaurant was our saving grace as it was primarily the only place in Miami Springs. We were out of power for practically a week and ate here everyday for breakfast. Lunch we had covered. Salads never tasted so good.
It was during this time that I fell in love with their cafe con leche. Now let me stop here for a moment. My job has a cafeteria and I typically would get my cafe con leche from there. Little did I know that I was missing out on GOOD cafe con leche all this time.
Now this is a frequent stop for me in the mornings; if I am not in a Starbucks mood. Thank goodness it's on my way to work! The lady that makes it, makes it just the way I like each. and. every. time. (Yes I did that on purpose for a dramatic effect).
Thank you Downstairs for being my family's saving grace during the Hurricane...
