We have a backyard pool, and Iâve seen far too many news reports about young kids accidentally falling into pools or getting into water thatâs too deep â and not being able to get out.
My goal was to give my child the skills to survive if that ever happened.
What I didnât realize going in â and wish had been made clearer â is that these recreational water acclimation lessons.
The focus is on helping kids feel comfortable in the water â which is valuable, but very different from teaching the survival skills that could help a child self-rescue in an emergency.
There is little emphasis on floating. No emphasis on finding the pool wall, or navigating out of deep water.
If your goal is the same as mine was â giving your child life-saving skills should they accidentally fall into water â this program may not be the right fit.
Overall, I think the YMCA program is a great introduction to the water, the instructors are kind, but it is not a substitute for actual water safety or rescue training. I hope this helps another parent set the right...
Read moreI would be inclined to rate this establishment poorly, as my interactions with the lady at the front desk have been consistently unprofessional, which is particularly disappointing given its Christian affiliation. There appears to be a significant opportunity for improvement in how potential and existing patrons are handled. Each time my husband contacts the facility to inquire about basketball court availability, we receive inaccurate information, resulting in wasted time and inconvenience. Additionally, the lack of warm greetings and occasional disregard for our presence at the front desk is CONCERNING, unsure if itâs how she is with individuals of a darker skin tone or everyone.
While it's understandable that gyms may harbor germs, the level of cleanliness at this location is subpar. The state of the toilets and overall maintenance of equipment leaves much to be desired, suggesting a need for better upkeep and potentially,...
Read moreGym and equipment are excellent. Hours are kinda sorry if you're an early riser like myself. Supposed to open at 5am but it's more like 5:07am. Every minute counts. $50 for a single membership is kind of steep. Paying for the daycare and kids programs I guess. Crowd in the afternoon is absolutely insufferable. Mornings aren't much better. Seriously if your going to wear a Suns Out, Guns Out muscle shirt and preen around like a peacock you'd damn well better bench press 225lbs more than the 4 times you struggled to do so. Also I would like to add that is it a prerequisite that you must drive like an ignorant moron to be a member there ? These people must pull out in front of you, in some instances almost hitting your vehicle, even if you have nobody in back of you for a mile. Seriously this place and people are the worst. Go out of...
