T.J. Maxx — Local services in Middletown Township

The staff are generally rude and unprofessional in this store! It’s a nice store but not worth the treatment. I went 5 times and had horrible experiences twice. Most recently this Friday August 8, 2025, as the manager named John M. (on his tag) created a hostile situation because I was buying too many items. He came to the cashier where I was being helped and he insisted that after checking the items in the register that he would place them under the counter out of eyesight or behind him in the already crowded tables. When I tried to offer better solutions he yelled telling me “it’s our way not your way! “ He escalated the situation and created an embarrassing hostile environment as everyone started to notice. One nice customer offered me her empty cart as she was checking out. The cart could have transferred in the checked out items. This manager was intolerant and impatient as he refused to accommodate any other solutions so I can make my purchase while observing my items without them being mixed with other store items behind him or placed under his feet where I can no longer see them. I had $600 worth of items which I spent over 2+!hours picking up. I had to leave the store with the items behind without making my purchase for items I needed and wanted. I am truly upset at this because I wasted 2+ hours of my life shopping. I don’t think I can come back to this store. I have better experiences at Marshalls. I could literally be in this store for HOURS!!! I LOVE this store! My first visit here, I did not have enough money to buy the Betsy Johnson Purse I wanted, & this cute little baseball cap for my daughter. So they let me put it on hold behind the counter until the end of the day. I was running late getting there so I called and asked if they could stay open until I got there & that I was 3 minutes away; the gentleman I spoke with on the phone said he could hold it until 9:03, & that he would keep the doors unlocked until I arrived. I got there at exactly 859 & everybody who was still there was so nice & the gentleman I spoke with on the phone, I cannot remember his name, but he was incredibly nice, & extremely helpful, he even offered to carry my bag out to the car for me! I don't believe any other store would have done that for me (or anyone for that matter). I could go on & on about this store. I love everything about it! All of the Employees are so nice, & do not get disgruntled or visibly annoyed when you stop them & ask for help, they actually will stop what they're doing & bring you to whatever it is you were looking for etc. This is absolutely ok of my top end favorite stores. Buyers beware!! The employee Andrea here is a fraud!! She tries to shove opening a credit card down your throat with her passive aggressive attitude. My mother outright told her that she did not want to open an account and she had a card there but hadn’t used it in some time!!! Andrea led her to believe she was only checking to see if my moms card was still active. She told my mother to put her information on the touchpad “to see” if her cc was still active. My mom told her that she didnt want to do that just in case it would reopen the card. Not knowing that this Andrea was having her put her info in to open a new card. She insisted my mother finish putting her info in then says congratulations you have an $800 credit limit. This is complete manipulation and she should be fired for misleading customers...
