J & M Bakery — Restaurant in Middletown Township

I live local and really wanted to get my mom who lives in Virginia a birthday cake. Everyone recommended here. I went and got 2 chocolate cakes and she asked if I wanted it to say anything , what I wanted it to say and what color. I said happy birthday in pink. No big deal, something simple and everyone does. I did not look at the cake because I figured it was a pretty basic thing and she originally asked me if I wanted to write something. I don’t know how she thought this was acceptable? You can’t even read what it says, and it is obviously very sloppy. It is embarrassing to bring someone a cake and it looks like this. To add to it, it wasn’t even one of the cakes. It was both of them. I will definitely not buy any kind of cake from here again, and if you are going to buy a cake, make sure you look at it before you leave the store. I wanted a Red Velvet cake for a surprise birthday party. I had no idea how difficult a chore it would be. I called Cravings and found that they were closed for the week. So I called The Macaroon Shop, they told me they make Red Velvet cupcakes, but not cakes (I still don’t understand this). I then called Confections Of A Rock$tar and thought I hit pay dirt, until the baker got on the line and told me they don’t do cream cheese frosting on the outside of the cake, it would have to be whipped cream. What? How do they make Carrot Cakes? So…. I called J & M (should have called them first!) my order was no problem. I got ¼ sheet, Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting on the outside & as the filling. WHAT A HIT! Good thing I got ¼ sheet, everyone wanted seconds! Moist delicious! I ordered a cake for daughter's wedding reception. The taste and flavor was out of this world. I ordered white cake with fresh strawberries and custard filling. It was fresh, moist, and very tasty. The icing was perfect semi-sweet. Was given a choice how sweet i wanted and every sample of cake I tried was a winner. My family had a hard time choosing what to pick, because all the samples tasted so good! Absolutely the Best! I recommend J&M Bakey. The service was excellent. I also ordered some french macaroons last minute and wedding cookies and they were still able to honor my request. From now on, I will order all my pastry needs from J&M Bakery....
