If you google Indian food in Monmouth County this place comes up as the best or one of the best. And I agree, 100%. This is my favorite place for vegetarian food in the area. The vegetarian dinner where you get three items, soup, and naan for $17 is an amazing deal. And the food is incredible. Absolutely incredible. And I've eaten a lot of Indian Food in my life - mostly in NYC. Also my boyfriend asks to go here pretty much every time we look at each other and say "what's for dinner." And before he met me he rarely if ever got Indian food. And he's fairly picky about what food he'll give 5 stars to but Neelam gets the 5 stars. Every single time we go there! The consistency in the quality of the food means I never have to worry that I'm spending $50 on dinner every week that is good some times and not so good other times. There has never been a meal where we didn't walk away going that was delicious.
And the staff is also amazing. Whether you are eating there or taking out they treat you amazing. It's a real family atmosphere when...

So when it comes to Neelam, without equivocation I can say Neelam is the best of the Punjabi style Indian restaurants in Mounmouth County. Before putting this review out for publication I can tell you I've eaten at Neelam at least ten times in the last year and a half and have had great, well prepared dishes at their Tuesday thru Saturday buffets. Why the buffet? Because the buffet offers a great selection of Punjabi inspired dishes and it economical. Also, when travelling thru Middletown it's usually around midday just the right time for the buffet.
The service here is attentive and efficient, you'll never want for a refill of water or a clean plate.
Speaking of clean, for those concerned about cleanliness, Neelam is spotless and if you care, so are the restrooms.

Read moreThis Indian restaurant is family-run and has a great selection of food across the entire menu. They also have days where a buffet is available for those that enjoy many options for a set price. What I enjoy most about the food is that the flavors are consistent and distinctly Indian flavors. More importantly, the levels of spice are exactly as ordered: Mild, Medium, and Spicy! Too many Indian restaurants are too heavy on the spices, making almost any level too hot, but this restaurant does it properly! Keeping the spice levels as ordered also allow the flavors of the food to be the star! A few months ago the seating and tables were upgraded to be more modern and more comfortable. The atmosphere and decor are very traditional with Indian artwork displayed on the walls, so it is an excellent blend between the style of an Indian restaurant and modern comfort! If you are interested in Indian cuisine, I highly recommend you give this...
