(There were four of us traveling) Our red eye Delta flight out of SFO to BNA was extensively delayed due to engine malfunctions on the aircraft. The SFO - Delta Gate and Customer Service Counter representatives seemed un-trained, and mishandled all four of our First Class round trip flight itineraries which caused us multiple issues lasting until our eventual return to SFO. We observed other delayed passengers having similar problems we were having, as we were all just trying to find other options of travel out of SFO. Travel delays are part of airline travel, we understand that, but the total mishandling, mistakenly canceling, and the removal of our original flight bookings caused us to purchase all NEW flights to our destination through another airline. (while having already paid โin fullโ for our four original Delta First Class round trip tickets) Calling Delta Airlines customer help line was a nightmare. The representatives we interacted with were rude, impatient and made it seem like the mixups, delays and cancellations were somehow our fault. We would not recommend Delta Airlines to anyone...

โ I contacted Delta. I originally paid for the flight and the economy class. They offered me an upgrade for $499, or 49,900 points. What I did not know, was it only upgraded me on the middle leg, which was fine, because that was the long part of the trip, 14 hours. The other two flights were very short. When the first meal came, the flight attendant, then the attendant supervisor, as well as myself, could not get my table up. Originally they were going to switch my seat, but instead said I could eat off a pillow. It is hard enough to eat in these environments comfortably, And of course the pillow tipped spilling part of my meal and drink all over me. When I contacted Delta, I only asked for the upgrade refund. They gave me less than 10% of that, nothing on the original flight, and said that they couldnโt see refunding anymore.
Update: went from 1/3 of four star based upon the fact they finally made it right after more than a month. In the end, they did...
