I usually don't like to leave negative reviews but I've had such an unsettling experience that I'm left with no choice..
What started as a nice evening shopping for clothes - turned into a dreadful one..As my boyfriend and I entered the Short Hills location as I have done countless times and started shopping around, I was greeted by one of the managers and thought I was being offered great customer service as he assisted me with helping me to find what I was looking for.
He walked away and another employee came over to assist (Another manager). However, after awhile I started to notice she was literally following us around the store as if we were going to steal something. I tried to ignore the feeling and we proceeded to checkout $500 worth of clothes. My boyfriend made a purchase and the cashier got on her walkie-talkie to share the purchase that we made with her manager. I asked her if she did that with all of her customers and she replied "sometimes". So I asked her what made this time different than the others and she said she reported the sale for end of the night. Strangely, this wasn't being done after every customer. I made another purchase right after but that purchase wasn't shared with management, I'm certain it was because I questioned the action. Of all the years, and many shopping trips to Express, including right before closing and "End of Night Sales" I've never seen this being done. I asked the store manager on duty about such protocol, and he offered the same "sometimes" response. Read moreI visited this location on Saturday, December 11, 2021 to return a few items. The checkout line was absurdly long even though every single register was open, and the cashiers were moving slowly. In addition, Express doesn’t require that customers mask up before entering this location, and there was no one monitoring entry into the store to make sure that it didn’t get overcrowded. There was also no one monitoring the check out line to encourage social distancing. In other words, as the country is dealing with a new Covid variant that’s alleged to be the most transmissible of all variants thus far, Express is taking very few precautions and thereby subjecting its customers to far more risk than necessary. Standing in line left me feeling vulnerable, despite my wearing two masks, and I felt even more vulnerable when I reached the register and was forced to stand there for God knows how long as the cashier slowly scanned each item, then rummaged through a box to find the appropriate hanger so that she could hang each item and return to the register to repeat the unnecessarily slow process all over again. What’s more, my cashier had an attitude and was unmasked. Although there was a plastic shield of sorts that stood between she and I, it was only a partial shield and it certainly didn’t shield me from the unmasked customers to my left and right who were no more than two feet away from me if that. Read moreI recently had a disappointing experience at the Express store in Short Hills Mall. I placed an online order for pickup, but when I arrived, some items were missing. I promptly contacted the store to report the issue and spoke with the manager, Lili. She informed me that I would have to wait 48 hours for the system to process a return.
After the wait, I reached out to customer service and spoke to Mario, the supervisor. He contacted the store and spoke with Lili, who insisted that I had picked up all my items, which was not accurate. Frustrated, I called the store again and asked to speak with a manager. When I inquired about her name, the manager refused to provide it. I then requested to speak with Lili again.
During that conversation, Lili repeated that I had received all my items. However, when I asked her to check for a second bag, she eventually found it lying around the store. This was incredibly frustrating, as they had claimed all my items were given to me from the start. The lack of professionalism in handling this situation was disappointing, and it left me feeling undervalued as a customer. I hope they can improve their service...
