I very much wanted to like this store, it had nice produce, a wide variety of southern food and reasonable prices. My main complaint is the ground sausage I bought - it smelled like a 4 day old trash can on a hot summer day. It smelled off when I began cooking it and the smell only worsened as it cooked. It was only 1 day old. It stunk up my house for a solid 2 days. What is even worse is that it never browned as it cooked, it stayed a pink/red color well after it should have been gray/brown. Something very, very off with the ground meat. I purchased short ribs too but I haven't cooked them yet, I will update this post after I try them out, not looking good though.

My son absolutely Looooves almost all fruits and vegetables (and I am beyond thankful that he does enjoy these healthy snacks!!) So we often shop at Pete’s Fruit Market. Normally we shop at a different location, But we have come to this store a few times as we are passing through the area for another errand. And they have always had a great selection for us to choose from and if my son leaves here happy, then a 5-Star ⭐️ rating is definitely appropriate!!

First let me say this is by no means is a bad review for the store itself or the actual people that run it and the stars I give it will reflect it. However, some in the rest of the staff in the store clearly does not have the professionalism to ask the right questions. For example, I have been given permission for my Emotional Support Animal to enter the store a while ago and since then I would come into the store with him. I shop consistently there, and I enjoy the experience typically when I shop here. My concern is that there was a particular security officer (Light-Skinned Goa-T) who was doing as we say in the culture, "Too Much." He is not what I would even call a real security officer because how he was leaned up against the end of the register and very nonchalantly telling me like he hanging on the block on the corner, "Yo, sir next time you have to take that dog outside.". I told him I was given permission to have the dog in the store. He was doing all the overly masculine things you could imagine, and it wasn't that serious. I told him the people that run the store, not the manager that those individuals gave me the permission. My dog wasn't barking, not using the bathroom on the floor or growling he was ideally being what you want in a pet who may be anxious in that environment but also excited and still friendly. I eventually was able to speak to those that run it and it was told to the security officer while I was present by the man who runs it that permission was granted, and my emotional Support Animal...

Disgusting, went there for fresh whole catfish. What I received was some catfish and some unknown fishes that were passed off as cat fish, this fish was full of worms throughout the flesh. same with the buffalo fish, they use carp and pass it off as buffalo. they cut the heads off so you don't know what you are buying. Also they still fish from you when they take to back to cut it up, I bought a very large catfish and they kept the meet leading to the tale my favorite part. I went back to the store and they had catfish tails for sale very large peaces. Very expensive I went back to the store with Unknown water fish, they refused to give me my money back. I told the manager to his face that he was selling bad fish. He tried to explain to me the difference between fishes. I said I know what catfish taste like and this not it. BUYER BEWARE DO NOT BUY FISH FROM THIS STORE . He kicked me out the store because he knew I was telling the truth. You come in certain poor neighborhoods and get away with all kinds of things....

Appreciate the selection of spices and chiles used in Mexican recipes - I have found items here I can't find at other nearby stores like Pick N Save, Pueblo Foods, even Whole Foods. Today I was excited to purchase 2 bags worth of items, including a whole chicken, green beans, lettuce, all kinds of chiles and spices, tomatoes and onions, for less than $15. I like to get their pico de gallo too! The store is clean and the staff are very friendly. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is that it is challenging to get some produce fresh here - lettuce, and berries in particular. I've found this to be an issue at other grocery stores in Milwaukee so I think it is a seasonal thing. I'm happy they are in the Harambee neighborhood, providing jobs and an affordable grocery store option in the neighborhood - they'll continue to get my business based...
