Meh was expecting more but upper staff comes across as passive-aggressive. Eye rolling, indirect messages, or not "remembering" others doesn't get you anywhere. Front desk person is always nice however! Also have tried volunteering here in the gardens...and have never been given a chance to...it's only for people who "rent a plot," stewards, or volunteers who attended an orientation. Orientations are given on selected times and days, same day and time selection each month which not everyone can accommodate to. Not to mention their alleged/apparent long list of signed-up volunteers. Sometimes communicating is an issue for questions, getting bounced from one person to the other to get a response that doesn't seem worth the time. System is odd. Read moreAs a whole I agree and support the mission of the Urban Ecology Center and other groups that work to help industry and ecology to work together to preserve as much the Milwaukee area ecology as possible as well as growth of industry and jobs. In the past 3 centuries as this country was being populated and settled and towns and cities grew, often the ecology was given little or no consideration and suffered from over extraction of all natural resources and not returning. Organizations such as Urban Ecology Center, Menomonie Valley Partners, Friends of Hank Aaron State Trail, the Dept. of Natural Resources and numerous other groups and orgs. work to preserve our ecology as much as possible in a world of rapidly growing population and all that will come with that. I feel that eventually the ecology will lose the fight but groups like this work to slow that process so we will have a green world to enjoy as long...
Read moreUrban Ecology Center is a beautiful place with lots of helpful volunteers. I highly recommend its annual membership for people who want to explore nature on their own. Especially for families with kids, there are a lot of programs and events happening throughout the year, and more frequently during summer months. We could have our first camping trip - thanks to all the gears (camping, fishing, kayaking) courtesy the memomonee valley center of urban ecology center. We will have our second trip...
