We hadn't been to Milwaukie Bowl in a long time, but they were having a deal during "Milwaukie-fest" where bowling was $5 per game/per person, including shoes! Such a good deal! By the hour is kinda lame, as a lot of places do, especially when you have a bigger group that takes longer to get through. It adds up fast.
They have a mini arcade and vending machines for snacks.
The bad thing about this visit was the two people who were working the desk seemed like they couldn't care less that they had customers. The one person who checked us in had awful bedside manner. He wasn't rude, but he just kinda stared at you like "Whatchu want?" and then proceeded to stand there just waiting for us to initiate the conversation or dictate what we might need. When I came up a bit later to ask if they could put the bumpers up, the two people were so caught up in their conversations with two other people, that I just stood there waiting for them to finish. They both looked at me and just went right back to conversing. Almost like, "You came to visit US, we'll get to you when we're ready". It was enough that we wouldn't go back. In this day and age there are so many options for places to spend your hard earned money that I don't think you should have to deal with sub par customer service. King Pins would be better for your money.
(Owners replied stating they couldn't comment on the customer service because they weren't there that day, then commented on it being a "crazy time" during the time of the car show that is held in their parking lot yearly, as a possible reason why the employees may have acted that way. Response to the owner's reply (which unfortunately deleted their comment: There were 3 lanes being used when we came in. Weird to comment on the "craziness" as an excuse when you weren't there, but unable to comment on the employees behavior becauseyou weren't there... 🤔🤔 It was not "crazy" at all when we came. See the pics for reference. Any way you slice it, it was bad customer service. I stand by my review. But just to be fair, I'll pop in again sometime to see if anything...
Read moreUPDATE* Decided I would give the owner a reasonable chance to be right and went bowling tonight (2/18/23). Here is how everything worked: We bowled for 1 hour which cost us $40, they force you to reserve a lane online and pay an additional $5. No way around the additional fee. The three of us were able to bowl 1 game and 2 frames. There was very little time to socialize with each other or have time to make adjustments to try to improve our games, in order to be able to bowl 1 game. Before this "industry" change we would bowl 2 games which would take us just over 2 hours. Our old way would cost us $30, 2 games at $5/game times 3 of us. Using the owners pricing, for the 3 of us to bowl 2 games it would cost us $75, $35/hr plus the $5 online reservation fee. So, I was wrong the cost has not doubled, it has increased 2 1/2 times. So Mr/Mrs Owner what do you have to dispute this pricing. The new way is just not fun or enjoyable. Zero stars if I could.
What a rude person. I called in to see about bowling as I have been too busy to bowl the last 3 months and was told to go onljne and then they hung up on me before I could ask a question. Been bowling here for 2 years and have never been treated this way. But I guess that is how they prefer to operate now. Went online and found out they have doubled their prices, only allow you to purchase by the hour, and force you to make reservations online, where they charge you an additional $5 or $6 for a convenience fee. Not sure how it is convenient when you are forced to pay online. Not sure I will ever bowl...
Read moreI will admit I am a bit biased when it comes to this company. When my family needed help fund raising for my son service dog. they donated 10 free bowling Tickets for our raffle. I thought that was very generous and sweet of them.
I also really enjoy playing there because I have 3 small children. When the children are playing they put up garters on those sides of the lane. So it's very rare that the children ever get a gutter ball. You have to really try for For a gutter ball in order to get one or be extremely unlucky.
They have a device that the children can use to straighten out their bowling ball To improve their chances of getting a strike. The device is easy to use they are easy to port around. They have multiples of this device. So if you have four parties that need to use one no problem.
They sell food and drink there is well.
Their bathrooms are kept in good condition. However I did not see any changing tables when I was there. So if you have a little one in diapers that's a little inconvenient. But all around it's a...
