I choose this gym as it was close to bike to. Initially I wasn't sure what sort of bike storage but was pleased to find a couple racks right at the gym front.
The gym shares an entrance with a daycare, which is a perk for some Fuel Fitness is a traditional gym, but they have a sizeable room for classes, with setups more akin to crossfit (inc barbell racks). The rest of the gym is traditional with probably 5 squat racks, free weights, benches, cable machines, turf, trx bands, wheeled sled, rowing, lots of cardio machines, lots of accessory machines, tanning booths, and more.
Something I appreciated about Fuel Fitness is their paid on full (PIF) annual plan. It means pay for a full year without automatic rebilling. Additionally, the staff is always friendly, kind, and helpful.
You've gotta scan in via phone app at th desk. For unstaffed hours; a separate app to unlock the enterance is required.
There's a vending machine with protein drinks during off hours, otherwise you can purchase protein, pre workout, etc.. from staff.
I got a personal trainer (Big Al) at Fuel Fitness during my time in Missoula, which enhanced the experience. This gym was a great experience for my 1+ year stent in Missoula.
The only downside was the diagonal roads/traffic to cross on bike when coming...
Read moreBest gym in Missoula for people who actually want to do typical gym things. There's treadmills, bikes, rowing machines for cardio. A huge array of machines if you're into that style of hypertrophy training. There's plenty of squat racks, rolling benches, a smith machine, a couple of bench press/incline press benches, dumbells going all the way to 155, also 2.5lb increment dumbbells which is super nice to incorporate into your programming. As for the atmosphere there's a huge variety of people but 99.9% mind their own business and keep to their workout. It's not a super hardcore gym, you'll see some big people but they're not the majority. At the counter you can get protein drinks and stuff. There's a vending machine too which is nice for getting protein afterhours. Touching on after hours it "closes" at 8pm but as long as you have the open app on your phone you can swipe it by the reader outside, the door will unlock and you can go in. So it's really a 24 hour gym. There's not a whole lot more to say. Staff isn't pushy and this is coming from someone who HATES pushy. If you step in they'll give you a tour...
Read moreThe actual gym is amazing, but the lack of communication around charges and duplicate charges is not. I was charged for a locker for several months and then told by staff that they cancelled charging for lockers several months ago. My money was never returned for the months I was charged for a locker and did not have to actually pay. There was zero communication around the policy update. Then, a month or two later, Fuel chose to again charge for lockers. I signed up and was told I had to pay my first month while physically at Fuel. Then, the next month I was charged twice for one locker. Again, zero communication and I ONLY caught this by reviewing my payment history in the Fuel app. Once I brought it to the attention of the manager he refunded me the $10. If you choose to go here, as I said, the actual gym is fantastic, but make sure you check your payment history on a monthly basis and inquire about any abnormal charges immediately. I think that overall Fuel could do a much better job of informing its current members around...
