John Cauley Jeweler — Local services in Mobile

Want to put this out there that this jeweler took every measure to take this down on Facebook and called me 3 times in a row to "stop bashing him on Facebook." Be careful. There's no telling what else they're taking down 🤷🏻‍♀️

Had my ring resized roughly a year ago, took 3x as long as it was supposed to. Ring resizing is typically 2 weeks, this took over a month. I understand that for a local jeweler, so I'm not super upset about that. The band then started turning the bottom of my finger green where it had been sized up. 1st red flag but I brushed it off because I didn't have time to go in and address the issue. However, when I wake up this morning to find that the band has snapped and the entire soldered part has broken clean off, and then they have the nerve to blame it on me in the store. "Sterling silver is fragile, you have to be careful with it, cleaning supplies will damage the solder joint." And then inform me I'll have to pay to have their mistake fixed. I understand sterling silver is fragile and I would absolutely understand if this was something I did like cleaning with aggressive cleaners or stepping on it or otherwise reckless behavior, but I didn't and I don't appreciate the assumption that it broke because I was CLEANING. I don't believe for a second that jewelry is so fragile I can't even sleep with it on just so it doesn't snap in the damn middle of the band. The least you could have done was offer to fix it at your own cost and own up to your mistake instead of blaming it on the customer. Very disappointing. Do not recommend whatsoever. Not to mention that while the jeweler himself is very nice, the front desk women are very condescending unless you walk in fully dressed up. God forbid someone walks in looking anything less than rich...
