I purchased a piece of furniture a few months ago from Furniture City in Modesto. I picked it up from their warehouse and it seemed to be fine from the limited view I got from cutting the box and looking through all of the wrapping. When I got home however, I found various areas that seemed to be damaged. In fact, the more we looked, the more we found. We even found damaged areas that had been previously repaired. It was quite obvious that we had been sold a damaged piece of furniture that someone had attempted to repair. (There is no way these things were caused by me transporting the piece from the warehouse to my home). When I contacted Furniture City, I was told that they turned in a claim to Aspen Home and they said that they needed to send a technician out to assess the piece. A technician came, and he repaired damages on the spot and took pictures. When he was sanding areas of the piece to repair, we saw bondo from previous repairs. I know for a fact that I did not damage the piece and repair it myself before calling them. I was told if we were not satisfied, another claim would get sent to Aspen Home. They informed us later that Aspen Home denied the claim. I have serious doubts that they even talked to Aspen Home in the first place. I tried talking to their company, but they said that I would have to deal directly with Furniture City, and that they could not answer any of my questions. We were excited to add this piece to our home and were upset to find that we paid full price for a piece that had been previously repaired. I feel that, if a business is selling furniture that has been damaged and repaired, then that should be disclosed to the customer. I did sign a paper saying that the furniture was ok when I picked it up, but it was difficult to see the damages that had been covered up. If you decide to purchase from them, then I recommend taking the furniture completely out of the box and examining it with a fine-toothed comb. If you find damage, then know that they’ll probably fix it and sell it to someone else who doesn’t catch it.
We tried to get them to give us a brand new piece, but they refused. Since a few months have gone by, we have decided to keep the repaired piece. A partial refund would be fair since, at this point, we’re already using the piece. I really just want people to know that Furniture City is selling damaged furniture that has been repaired and...
Read moreI am incredibly disappointed with my experience at Furniture City. I purchased a new king bed on November 21, expecting a smooth and professional process. Unfortunately, the experience has been anything but that.
When the bed was delivered on December 9, it turned out to be the wrong size—a floor model California king instead of the new king bed I ordered. This mistake rendered the bed unusable with the new mattress I purchased.
Despite promises from Furniture City to replace the bed, the delivery has been repeatedly delayed. I was told the replacement would arrive by December 23 and that delivery would be expedited. As of today, I still have not received the correct bed, nor have I received any updates on its status.
This situation has caused significant inconvenience for my family. With a 4-month-old baby, I have been forced to sleep on the floor while the incorrect floor model takes up space in my home. The lack of communication and accountability from the company has only added to the frustration.
I expected better service and professionalism from Furniture City. Their repeated mistakes and failure to resolve this issue in a timely manner are unacceptable. At this point, I believe some form of compensation for the hardship is warranted.
If you are considering purchasing from Furniture City, I strongly urge you to think twice. My experience has been nothing short of...
Read moreBought a $6,500 couch from Furniture City at the mall in Modesto. It was a floor model and sold "as is". My wife and I knew this and LOOKED IT OVER 3 times to check for ANY damage as we were also considering 2 other couches. There was 1 TINY spot that appeared to be a scuff mark or paint transfer on the love seat. The sofa had NOTHING. We purchased and waited for delivery. When delivery truck got here, My wife and I inspected and there is A NEW TEAR in the sofa that was NOT there when purchased. I called the store and they asked me to send them a picture and stated that, "because it was a floor model we don't cover tears". I stated IT WAS NOT THERE WHEN PURCHASED". And the girl on the phone tried to lie to me and tell me it was wrapped the same day, when it was not. We finished our purchase after the end of store hours and our salesman told us it would be wrapped the next morning. Then SHE WOULD NOT LET ME SPEAK!!! She kept talking over me as I was trying to explain stuff to her. Then...after the guys finished delivering and assembling the couch and love seat, they told us they don't have a POWER CORD TO OPERATE THE COUCH!! The whole reason we bought this couch was for the ZERO GRAVITY RECLINERS!! And now we can't even use them!?!?! BUYERS BEWARE, STAY WAYYYYY AWAY FROM...
