Culichi Town. I’ve read your reviews. I’ve just gone Friday April 25th in Modesto and was there from 6:38pm to 8:51pm. I drove there from Turlock. I went with a group as a surprise birthday party. My girlfriend uses hearing aids. The large table in front of the band is where we were seated. Now with that said: I would not come back. To anyone that does read these reviews prior to going, heed my warning: the band is louder than you’d expect. Your eardrums will feel like they’re bleeding. They are money hungry. They will take your picture and present it to you in a frame without saying anything but expecting payment. The guacamole was $14. I could not even talk to the friend next to me despite cupping my hands to his ears. My girlfriend ordered the Hot Cheeto Tostada. “Shrimp cooked in lime juice” that’s what your menu said correct? It was raw, wait no that would’ve been at least somewhat acceptable instead of the putrid smell that instantly hit my nose as it was placed down. The debacle was handled and she got something else. That’s not the only problem, sadly for you, as everyone at the table got their food first and we had waited for ours. By the time I got my order people were finishing, and by the time my girlfriend got her new meal, everyone was done. The band played constantly and walked around so it was nigh avoidable to ever get the chance to talk. Fix the volume is all I’m asking at the very least. If you do respond to this, do not give me a copy pasted response. It will only further the fact that this place does not care for it’s customers. If you can give a real response, realize that your restaurant is not perfect and has factors that need to change. Oh and one more note: the new meal my girlfriend got? I specifically asked for no avocado. Lone behold it was in there despite typing out to the server so he could understand me over the loud music “no avocado in x dish”. Unacceptable. Talk to your...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a bold, flavor packed culinary adventure, Culichitown is the place to be. I recently hit up the spot and tried their Mazatlán-style specialties, and honestly, it was a full on flavor fest.
I started with the shrimp empanadas, and they were next-level. Perfectly crispy on the outside with that golden, flaky crust, and inside? Juicy shrimp seasoned to perfection with a little kick that hits just right. Not greasy, just buttery and packed with flavor. Definitely a 10/10 starter.
Then came the “mar y tierra” fried sushi roll and wow, talk about a fusion masterpiece. Think creamy crab mixed with savory beef, wrapped up like sushi but with a Mexican twist. It’s that kind of wild combo that shouldn’t work but totally does. Every bite was rich, slightly spicy, and umami-loaded in the best way. It’s not your average sushi, and that’s exactly the point.
To wash it down, I grabbed a strawberry lemonade, which was super refreshing tart, sweet, and ice cold, with real strawberry chunk giving it a fresh vibe. Then came the mango shots, and let me tell you, they were straight fire.
Culichitown isn’t just food it’s a full experience. The vibes are loud, colorful, and unapologetically extra in the best way possible. You feel the energy as soon as you walk in, and the flavors completely match that vibe bold, vibrant, and unforgettable.
Whether you’re a seafood lover, a sushi rebel, or just down for something different, Culichitown delivers. No cap, it’s definitely one of those spots you leave already planning...
Read moreThe award for the MOST ANNOYING environment goes to this place. If you have in-laws in town and you don't want to talk to them, this is the place. Bring hearing protection because one of the worst and loudest bands plays here. The food is mediocre. Typically large portions. I think everyone in our large group got sick, but not to the food poisoning level. People are constantly wasted at this place, and the staff are sick of washing throwup off the plate ware (heard from a staff member). It's nice inside, but you immediately get hit with tacky uniforms and birthday whistles that will literally hurt your ear drums. Out of the 9 we had, ALL of us had ringing in our ears after we left. I will never go to this place again. I witnessed the staff downing tequila over and over by the glass! It might have been with the owner since they all wanted to talk to him here and there. Horrible place, I have so much more to say, but I'll just leave it at that. The 4 or 5 stars have to be fake, and I could almost guarantee this is a place for money laundering, because there is no way this place stays open for longer than a year like this.
Update: in response to the restaurant, this is the correct place. I do not come from another restaurant (im retired) and if you don't know what is going on, maybe you should visit the place. We visited today around 5pm Again, most annoying music and I'm Hispanic. Super annoying in every way. Couldn't wait to finish our food and get...
