Mason's Farm Market — Local services in Monroe

Despite this place being loved by many I had a terrible experience here. I worked here for one summer while going to college at UConn, studying agriculture and business, and it was the worst job I’ve ever had. The owner, Scott, is here everyday and puts a fake persona on while dealing with customers - then behind their back he is super rude about them and puts up quotes of the “dumbest things customers have said” all over his tools space in the shed area - then he would take out his anger on me. He created a toxic work experience, I started to become scared to come into work…. Background on myself, I’ve worked at 2 farms prior to this and I LOVE GARDENING AND EDIBLE PLANTS so I know my stuff with this, but he is super impatient, rude, and does not care how others are treated. He would have frequent outbursts cursing like crazy and get mad about the smallest things that went wrong for him and take it out on me.

I cannot recommend this place and I think it needs to be shared to the people who love coming here because do you seriously want to support a man who treats his workers and you like literal trash? I loved farming and being with plants but working here made me want to abandon my interest in this space.

I’m sure he’ll see my review and throw a tantrum about it and maybe even try to contact me to remove it but I stand by this and I hope others share this to know this is not okay and not how to run a business. It’s scary knowing he has my address and...

Last weekend was my first time at this nursery. The plants are so lovely, and the young staff member patiently answered my questions. And when I tell you they have the most giant, STUNNING fushia hanging baskets I've ever seen ------ words fail. They are jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I have been using Mason's for years. Not only is their produce tops, their spring-time flower baskets are fantastic. I originally purchased their baskets for their beauty, however, after comparing their prices, I was delighted with that too. The value is HUGE. Additionally, I enjoy supporting a family owned business that, in turn, supports it's community. These are among the nicest people I've ever done...
