HEARTLAND CROSSING — Local services in Mooresville

I live in the neighborhood behind this shopping center. I love having Meijer, Walmart, and Menards conveniently located. It makes regular grocery shopping, as well as emergency runs to the store to fix a clogged drain or get kid's cold medicine late at night so much easier.

In addition, there are several small shops, including a dollar store, Game Stop, and a nail salon in the strip mall. Also, several speciality stores in smaller blocks or stand alone buildings such as Auto Zone, AT&T, and Tire Barn. There's also several chain restaurants from Bob Evans and Starbucks to Zaxby's, Sonic, and Wings Etc.

My only complaint is the lack of diversity. We have 2 phone stores, 2 tire shops, and 2 major grocery stores within the complex. All of the restaurants, with the exception of the sports bar, are chains. A few small business have tried to make a go over the years, but they generally get forced out by rent prices or competition with the big stores. I would love to have a bakery/bagel shop, a butcher shop, and some mom & pop...

I like that they let the fields be wild. I see a lot of milkweed and native thistles as well as nests of some sort. The landscaping is nice (though a little questionable w/ the palm trees) and usually always well-kept. Driving is smooth. The 4 way stop and restaurant entrances are a little nerve-wracking. Store and restaurant selections are decent for a place like Camby. Wish there was a bit more selection or something slightly higher quality than Applebee's/O'Charley's, but still not bad. I love shopping at this Menards location @Heartland Crossing. Their staff are super friendly & helpful, especially Emily (at front desk) who has helped me on several occasions on renewing my picking lists since at times, I have limited space to put landscaping materials in my SUV thus not all the items on my picking slip are picked up a one time.
