Well , to begin very cool decor but we were seated 4 feet from the ladies bathroom( which within a couple minutes we noticed the smell when that door opened ) . Our waitress was not friendly…, but she did not keep us waiting . My salad arrived . A dish of lettuce & 2 cherry tomatoes, light sprinkle of bacon & a “few “ croutons .Not a lotta taste at all . I ordered a sirloin ( medium well ) expecting a little bit of pink remaining & my granddaughter ordered chicken strips & fries . Food arrived in a timely fashion & still warm . My steak was that of a thin , fatty flank steak / so thin & sadly VERY over cooked . My Gr- daugtrers food was nothing but grease . She barely touched it .I covered the dry thin piece of low quality “ steak “ with A1 …. Scooped out half the butter the baked potatoe was swimming in & ate . I will say. when the waitress delivered the food, as she walked off I asked my granddaughter if she smelled cigarettes somewhere and we looked around the restaurant. We saw no one smoking inside the restaurant. It wasn’t until we left after waiting in line for about five minutes to pay our bill … That when we got to the car, we saw our waitress outside …in the back area , puffing on a cigarette /so we knew that’s where that stench came from. ( not a smell I wanna smell when I am trying to have my food delivered to me)! The quality of the food was very poor. A lady/ dark hair stopped by asking if everything was okay. I told her the steak was very overcooked and she asked if I wanted another one made. My expectations were already set that I’d get a similar low quality piece of meat , so I passed. SMH …. I would NEVER 👎 return or suggest this place . It was a huge let down . I still can’t get over the smell of the woman’s bathroom … combined with our waitress smoking order ..just gross ! Do yourself a favor …. Prices were quite comparable to Texas Steakhouse , Outback and Longhorn steakhouse… Go there instead! This place LITERALLY STINKS ! NOT WORTH A SECOND CHANCE ! I would add a photo for you( took pics ) but can’t figure out how to do...

We have been longtime diners at Harry J’s and except for a couple of not so good meals overall we’ve been very satisfied but after our last visit last week Saturday 9/18 we won’t be going back. Here’s why: I ordered the TBone steak medium and my husband had shrimp and strip also medium. A couple weeks earlier I had the flat iron steak and it was excellent and so was the shrimp hubby had. I figured the TBone had to be great then but not so. It was somewhat raw looking although didn’t really bleed and it didn’t taste like TBone at all and a wierd consistency I asked waitress to have it cooked for just a few more minutes but when she returned 5 + minutes later nothing was changed about redness or texture but slightly burnt on bottom. It was awful. In total I had about 4 small bites. Waitress offered to bring me a flat iron steak instead but owner said charge would stay the higher price of TBone because I “ate most by of it” which was false! And she brought the flat iron in a to go box! She was sympathetic and agreed with us but owner wouldn’t budge or charge less. It was not a good experience at all nor to mention where we were seated it was very dark and adjoining to I believe where the service closet was close to the side of the building opposite the 1/2 wall when you enter—well paneling was pushed in on my side and there was black mold inside, not to mention rotten wood all alongside large windows which along with the cracked glass in the ceiling skylight we began to wonder what condition the kitchen must be. And the new owner was overheard saying he’d like to unload his business. This building is very much in disrepair and sadly should either be renovated or turned down as we know longer feel safe...

My husband and I went here tonight to celebrate. He ordered a ribeye and I ordered shrimp. Our food came out and his was fine. My potato and shrimp were cold. I asked for it to be remade. My husband was done with his meal when I received my second plate. As I have had experience in the past working at a steakhouse for 8 years, a manager should have taken the second plate out to the customer. The manager should also smooth things over with a clearly unhappy customer who had to wait to get food after her husband was finished. Even worse the shrimp was hard as if it was thrown back on the grill. Not once in my visit did the manager ever come over and ask how everything was? Attempt to offer an apology? The server let me know that her manager took my meal off when she gave us the ticket. However, I’m still leaving a unhappy and hungry customer. When I went to pay I had to ask the hostess to get the manager from the bar to come speak to me. The lack of professionalism and customer service is astounding. She acted completely surprised by everything I was telling her. She apologized told me sometimes the shrimp can be dry ? She told me she hoped my next experience here would be a good one? Was she going to offer a free appetizer or anything like most good managers do? No, nothing. What makes me ever want to come back to a place that has a manager that cares so little about the customer? We have been eating here over a year and this was my first bad experience. This will...

Nice little local place off the trail. No way you will know this place exists unless you had see the billboard and someone local takes you there. Very reasonably priced and friendly service. Typical bar food with some nice steak and seafood options. I opted for the Grilled Chicken with beans and a salad. Others tried the shrimp and steak and or traditional burgers. No one was disappointed with their meals. Margherita was a little too much ‘Kool Aid’ like taste and no selection of bourbon. When you ask for bourbon, you get a list of ‘whiskey’s as options. After traveling through Kentucky these past few years, you begin to learn the difference. Need to educate the new generation. :-) I like the atmosphere - I was even able to find hometown plate on the wall!

I good find just off highway 61. Country cooking with steaks, sandwiches, salads etc. full bar with decent price on alcohol. The Philly was not like any that I’ve had. Nice thick slices of ribeye, full of onions, peppers, cheese on a soft, sweet like a hamburger bun. Everyone liked their meals I neglected to get pictures. Good service from our server and several staff came to clear off plates as we were finishing appetizers and the meal. Last but certainly not least the Cheesecake was amazing, light and delicious. The server said is was not homemade but certainly was as good of not better than homemade.

Friend and I were traveling back to Illinois when he noticed the Harry J's sign along the highway. So off we go to grab a bite. I wasn't expecting this place however it was so nice to find it. Historic building with lots of interesting decor inside. Staff friendly and dining environment fun. Food was so good and the steak I ordered was cooked perfectly. Steak fries were basically a baked potato cut up and they were so good I could have ordered more of them. Both of us we glad we saw this sign or we would have missed a great meal. Returning again soon with my wife.
