Our first time visiting, party of 8, we came in around 5:15 on Monday 2/17/2020. Walking in the entrance we thought this place was going to be really cool. They have a grain bin as the foyer and the decor was really nice. Even have an old wagon as the salad bar. Unfortunately it went down hill from there beginning with it taking about 20 minutes after being seated to get a drink/food order in and another 10 to get the drinks. Maybe they were short staffed so up until this point I could live with the service because you could see our waitress was trying. As we are sitting waiting on our food a lady from the kitchen brings out 6 hush puppies on a plate and then gave us some serious attitude when we said who are these for, because we didn't order an appetizer. She told us real quick that they don't serve hush puppies as an appetizer! Well, all three kids had ordered hush puppies as sides for their meals and we didn't know if this was all of their sides together so each kid gets 2 or if they were brought to the wrong table or what was going on. Her response was "I'm not your waitress you will have to figure it out or ask her" and she just walks off. Waitress finally makes it back around and tells us that they don't sell them as an appetizer "officially" but sometimes people ask for them and they sell them as an extra side and that the lady in the back had brought them to the wrong table. Also told us the lady in the back should have known that because she had worked there longer than her. Ok great but why the hateful attitude to paying customers that just asked a question? Anyway food comes out, same lady from the back acting like a total jerk again with some serious attitude when handing out plates and that pretty much ruined it for us by that point. Not sure if those two ladies hated each other or if the lady in the back was just mad as heck at her husband or something or what was going on. Food was honestly nothing special for taste or quality. $14.00 bought a thin Ribeye and a baked potato which was about like eating one from a Golden Corral buffet in any local town. There is a possibility I would have ate here again but with the long wait time from sitting down to actually ordering and the incredibly hateful lady that brought out food I cant see paying those prices and then tipping staff that talked to us in a hateful manner. I guess I just felt like we received buffet service while paying normal restaurant prices. Walking out of the place the other family and I all agreed we would never go here again and to be honest, the vibe of the place with the people working there was kind of "Stressed out/hate my job". It made all...
Read moreMy parents came here for my mother’s birthday today. It seemed they were short staffed (understandable with the current COVID situation of people not wanting to work) and their waitress was overwhelmed with multiple large parties. She informed my parents immediately that they were gonna have to wait to order because she needed to take the other party’s orders as they were seated first (again, understandable). Well it seemed she spent the majority of her time taking care of the other tables and neglecting my parents. They waited a significant amount of time and were told by the waitress that she was “waiting for their food still.” By the time they got their food, it was cold and had obviously been sitting around for a while. Both of their meals were over cooked and not the normal quality of the restaurant. Both were disappointed and would have informed the waitress but she was MIA due to the other tables. They eventually just paid and left because they were tired of trying to flag her down.
Again, I completely understand that restaurants are having difficulty maintaining adequate staffing but adjustments need to be made. Have someone that is solely in charge of running food or close off some tables. I know that restaurants are hurting at the moment and closing tables will hurt them as well, but because of the underwhelming service my parents got today- they don’t plan on returning to the restaurant again. So yes- closing some tables may result in a loss for the restaurant but poor service also just lost them some...
Read moreMy husband and I came here for dinner and my two star rating is based on my meal. Food: My husband had the spaghetti and he said it was good. My meal, however, was quite the opposite. Before our meals were served, my husband finished his salad and we had time to sit and talk for quite a while before our food arrived. The kitchen was very slow. I ordered the 10 oz. sirloin, medium, with Texas toast and fries. The toast was good. The fries were nothing at all special, with some being quite dry. The steak was terrible. It was cooked as a well-done steak would be cooked, it was dry, it had absolutely no taste at all, and it was barely warm. One bite was all I could stomach. It was awful. I was not charged for my meal, which was the right thing for the restaurant to do in this situation. The sweet iced tea was good as it was not overly sweet. Service: Our waitress was ok. After our meal, our debt card sat with the check in the tray while the waitress busied herself with refilling condiment bottles, leaving us to wonder if the waitress takes the payment or if we pay as we're leaving. Communication regarding payment should have been better. The atmosphere: walking into a dark, cavernous silo was not at all welcoming. The inside of the restaurant was all barnwood, and appeared clean. Based on my meal experience tonight, my interest in returning is...
