Earlier experience The food was excellent. Big portions and reasonable prices. They really take it serious too about customer safety and distancing to give the customer the chance to dine and relax without worrying.

Experience Yesterday My husband and I were so disappointed and upset with the food quality and portions we were given yesterday. Nothing about the meals were prepared as described on the menu or as asked either. He ordered carnitas and was given 4 fatty hard bits of what was supposed to be the meat. He tried to stomach the food but of course was not able to eat much before he couldn't stomach anymore of the meat and just ate his rice and beans instead. I was supposed to have the lunch special #1 which was said on the menu to consist of a whole stuffed green pepper, a hard shell taco, refried beans, and a salad. I asked to have a side of rice added to it. What I was served instead was a small plate with some weird ground meat scattered across it with a few strips of green pepper on it and then had a little bit of cheese scattered and melted over it. A hard shell taco with same weird ground meat in it. Some rice and salad but no refried beans. I was so disappointed when I saw what I was given instead of the stuff pepper and was unable to eat it once I tried it. Even after trying best to camouflage the meat taste with salsa and other things to hide meat taste. Ate rice after adding lots of salt and salsa and after doctoring up taco finally got it down. Since plans for the new East Lawrence Restaurant prices have went way up and the portion sizes of food has went down to not enough to feed a child. What was $31.00 for the exact same number of plates and the same order each and everytime it has been $54.00 the last 3 times and no where the amount of food it used to be. Certain staff member is very very rude, short, not friendly and acts like she is doing you a favor by serving you, you can go to the local steakhouse and have 3 steak dinners for what they are charging now for way less food than before. They need staff that acts like they appreciate your patronage and make sure you are getting food you are paying for. WILL NOT BE GOING THERE AGAIN HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL CUSTOMERS FOR MANY YEARS. BUT WHEN THEY NO LONGER CARE ABOUT YOU AND ACT AS IF THEY DON'T CARE IF YOU COME TO THEIR ESTABLISHMENT OR NOT AND YOU QUESTION SIZES, PRICES, ETC. AND THEY SAY WELL I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU IT'S THE SAME AND IT ISN'T. THEN I CAN TAKE MY PATRONAGE SOMEWHERE ELSE AND WE HAVE. GREED, RUDENESS, AND BAD ATTITUDES CAN RUN CUSTOMERS OFF AND INDEED THEY DID US. NOT ONE TIME EVERYTIME FOR MONTHS AND...

I love this place it is one of the few Mexican restaurants I will eat at. They have a wonderful arroz con pollo and the enchiladas are to die for! Their cheese dip is delicious, their salsa tastes garden fresh and everything is made to order. I've seen people complain about the wait but if they aren't waiting at a restaurant then they are not getting fresh food!! The wait is always consistent with how long it takes to cook a meal at El Rio, because They cook it after you order it as all restaurants should, and with the right amount of seasoning so it's not to spicy and it's never bland. Our glasses are never empty and our stomachs are always full! I highly suggest this place if you're passing through Moulton! One of the best... Oh also they redecorated rather recently so the inside of the restaurant is really nice. :) THANK YOU EL RIO FOR ALWAYS...
