I am very disappointed with the reliability and responsiveness of The Art Place Studio in Mt Pleasant. I called last Wednesday (Feb 28, 2018) to get some information about one of the classes and got an answering machine giving me their hours, asking me to leave a message and stating that they would get back to me. After waiting to hear back from them the rest of Wednesday and all Thursday morning, I finally called again and reached the owner (?). I got my question answered and, when asked when I might be coming in, I responded that it would be next Wednesday or Thursday (March 7 or 8, 2018) So,today I drove from West Ashley with a friend to do a piece only to find the store was closed (this was 12:03 and the posted hours indicated they opened at 11). After waiting a while I called them and again got an answering machine. I left a message and asked for a return call to let me know if they were going to open. We waited until almost 1 pm and the store never opened nor did I receive a return call. If an emergency occurred a message to that effect should have at least been left on their answering machine and a sign put on the door. Do not plan on dropping in (as the website indicates) unless you call first and actually talk to an individual who tells you they are open. Poor way to...
Read moreWow — after reading a lower starred review, we honestly had to do a double take. Our experiences at this studio have been completely different from what you described. The owner is one of the kindest and most patient people we’ve met — especially with children. She’s always gone above and beyond to make our visits smooth and enjoyable. My kids absolutely adore her, and it’s one of the few places we feel welcomed and encouraged to create freely. We also couldn’t help but notice that you’ve left quite a few negative reviews at various places. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but sometimes it seems like you're actively looking for a problem. Running a small business — especially one that caters to families and children — takes a huge amount of patience, love, and hard work. It’s disappointing to see that effort overlooked so quickly, especially when so many others (including us!) have had nothing but positive experiences. Wishing you a better experience wherever...
Read moreWent here with my three year old and a friend this week. We received a gift card for my daughter’s third birthday! We got there right after it opened around 11:15- we were greeted and was given all the information about the process of how the paint activities work. Spent a few minutes picking out what we were going to paint- they had a great variety of different items- plates, figurines, plant holders, mugs, trays, piggy banks, candle holders, and more!
The four of us (a two year old and three year old included) spent about an hour and a half painting our items. We never felt rushed and were helped out when we needed. The place was clean, organized, and the staff was very friendly! We can’t wait to go back and pick up our painted items after they have gone in the kiln!
Highly recommend! Thanks...
