The Fort Belvoir Body Shop gym is a solid facility with adequate equipment to meet most workout needs. The strength training and cardio sections are well-stocked, and the overall condition of the gym is well-maintained. However, the bathroom and shower areas are quite small, which can be inconvenient, especially during peak hours.
One of the main drawbacks is the gym culture—many patrons treat the facility like their own personal gym. Expect to see people spending excessive time on equipment, often just going through the motions rather than engaging in an effective workout. If you plan on using machines or weights, be aware that some individuals may camp out for extended periods, particularly outside of cardio equipment.
To get the best experience, I highly recommend avoiding peak hours:
Monday-Friday: 0600-0900, 1100-1300, 1530-1700 Saturday-Sunday: 0700-1200 Outside of these times, the gym is much more manageable, and you’ll have better access to equipment without unnecessary delays. If you're looking for a no-nonsense workout environment, plan...
Read more3.6 stars due to the limitations in the gym. This rounds off to 4 stars overall. Yet I will give it 4 stars for being clean, and 5 stars for easy check in and FREE. Limited attached weights. Small gym with a decent amount of cardio equipment yet limited sanitary stations with paper towels and wipes. I didn’t see a sauna and the bathroom area was small. There was a locker area by the entrance area. It was the busiest gym I have used in Ft Belvoir. The other gyms are smaller, dead, and not used as much. Not as large and not many cardio and attached weight machines like Planet Fitness (my last gym membership place in Ft Campbell) yet the convenience outweighs paying $10 a month for Planet Fitness. Very grateful to have a place to workout for free to avoid traffic, spending gas money, and paying $120- $350 a year for...
Read moreThis place is great, especially for 24 hour access. The only struggles I have had with the facility is access is sometimes denied due to system issues (usually due to power outages and out of control of gym management) and limitation of equipment. However the manager is super flexible about bringing equipment from the big gym as long as no one abuses the privileges and people return the equipment before leaving...
