If I can give this salon zero stars, I would. I have visited this salon so many times before and have had zero issues. Yesterday, I walk in and ask for an ACRYLIC SET and get sat immediately. I had the intentions on getting a round, French manicure with the tips being different colors. I have had this design done before at local shops costing no more than $80. I am not greeted with a hello, how may I help you, he didn’t ask if I wanted a manicure. The nail tech tells me for the shape (round) it would be $60 then an additional charge for each color (5 total) for a total price of $115. Knowing how much I have paid for simple designs like a colored French tip before, I told him I’ll pass and asked him to just grab any pastel orange from their collection. He comes back with a Texas burnt orange. I told him that’s not what I was looking for and to grab any hot pink they had. He comes back with a beautiful hot pink, but it was the dip container of hot pink. I am not the type to ask for any changes at a salon, but I felt like asking again for acrylic. The entire interaction between me and this nail tech up to this point had been very rude, rushed, and like he didn’t want to even do my nails at all. So when I asked him very nicely again about acrylic (something I get done every time I go to the salon for the last two years) he tells me that’s how they do it. I am almost 23 years old and I’ve been getting my nails done since I was in middle school. I think everyone knows the difference between dip and acrylic. So he then starts forming the beads out of the dip to put onto my nail. When he gets my “acrylic” on my nail, he starts shaping them. Another note, why do nail salons charge for a shape other than square? In Memphis when I get my nails done, the shaping is included in the entire price. Anyways, he filed every finger perfect except for my pointer fingers, and when he was done I once again very nicely asked him to round the edges just a little bit more. He then says to me in a rude and loud tone, “I can’t file them anymore because your natural nail is too short.” I froze and didn’t know what to do in the moment, so I asked for a different nail tech. When I asked that, he throws the file down, pushes himself away from the counter, and walks away. In that moment, all I could do is cry because I have never had terrible service like that before. Not to mention, he was filing so hard he made my finger tips bleed. The manager (or owner) Kenny came up and started fixing my nails and was very kind and caring for the rest of my experience. I sadly will not be returning to this salon due to the experience I had yesterday. I am so tired of hearing about all kinds of salons lying to their clientele to make more money. As a paying and tipping customer, I should have been treated with more care. 24 hours later, the tips on top of my nail is separated from my natural nail, my finger tips still hurt, and I am still bothered by the interaction. I will insert photos on what I originally asked for (the French tips with round nails) and what I left with. You guys may be able to zoom in on what I left with to see my finger tips bleeding. If you do visit this salon and get sat with a tall, middle aged man with a tattoo...
Read moreI come here often to get my eyebrows waxed and that is typically a good experience but I got eyelash extensions the last time I went there and I never will from here again. The lady that did them kept talking about how little time she had to do them so she rushed. I was moved 3 different times. She waxed my eyebrows and did a great job then took in two people and I had to wait for them to be done before she would do my eyelashes. I told her several times how it was my first time and she never explained the process to me or anything. She completed my first eye and it was closed the whole time because I was never told to keep it open. Perhaps that’s something that’s obvious, but again, it was my first time. She panicked and started cutting my top and bottom eyelashes apart because my eye was glued shut. I have no bottom eyelashes on that eye now. She finished the sets and I told her how bad one of my eyes was hurting because of the eyelashes and she blamed it on my eyelashes being in the way? She took tweezers and ripped my eyelashes out right there… it still hurt even after that and she said she didn’t know why but tried to rush me out. That night my eye was rubbed raw on the side and I got them off 3 days later because it was so painful. My eyelashes are extremely sparse now because the glue was matted up terribly. It was such a painful experience and anytime I blinked it hurt. After taking them off in the area where it hurt most I saw a sharp edge from the glue and that’s what was hurting my eyes. I recommend this place for getting your eyebrows waxed but never for eyelash extensions. Go to a place specifically for that, if not you’ll waste...
Read moreThis place used to do a great job, however my latest experiences have been horrible, so I will never return. I had acrylic nails done Wednesday, and the same evening the nail felt like it would pop off, and by Sunday the nail was separating. I noticed the guy doing it put on the most minimal amount of nail glue and on the very tip of my nail to the point that it didn’t even stay on as he was gluing the others on. I’m also a licensed cosmetologist, so I know how nails are supposed to be done. I also had a pedicure, and I asked if the guy knew how to do nail art. He said yes, but proceeded to do a struggle flower on my toe. Cost me a total of 153 and so not worth it. Worst experience and terrible service. I won’t be returning. Edit: Also I paid for gel polish and it was chipped the very next day ugh… Cannot express how overpriced the service is for the value. My advice go to Serenity nails on Thompson. You get better service, the nails last longer and you get the quality...
