Read all the great reviews here, decided to bring my first timer friends to shoot here instead of their competitors at Doug's. The rental process was quick, efficient and the staff was friendly, even telling me I could shoot as long as we want as there are barely anyone in the range.
Everything was smooth and great until we met Patrick, who at first sight was visibly unhappy and impatient to help us with trading our rentals. Of course I didn't want to assume anything so I shrugged it off because me and my friends are having a great time in the range. As the day went by, we wanted to try the full-autos to end our awesome session. Except it was ended abruptly by Patrick (video) and left an extremely sour note on everyone's experience. As an experienced shooter myself, and also based on other employees in the range that I have shown the video to, they did not deem the issue as one that was so severe to the point we needed to be kicked out of the range. This is where the issue arises for me.
It was apparent that our presence were not welcomed by Patrick (even way before the incident). This leads me and my friends to believe that we were constantly targeted and when the opportunity came to kick us out, Patrick took it.
It is also apparent in the video that when the shoulder-tapping began, it was over half the magazine shot out(25 bullets total). This whole magazine was emptied in less than 3 seconds, if the tapping began at over half the magazine dumped already, that leaves less than 1.5 seconds to feel the tap, react, and respond to the taps, again, whilst firing a loud gun that's constantly hitting someone's shoulder. I will also call out Patrick again, when the tapping began, the first "tap" is visibly and obviously not a tap. It was a unsure, hesitant placement of the hand over the shoulder, which does not signify the shooter as a tap, let alone double tap. So going off on a first time shooter about "I tapped you four times and you still kept going" at a scenario like this is uncalled for and rather rude.
Do remember that a first timer is full of adrenaline and excitement, full of recoil and vibrations on a first timer's shoulder, ear-deafening weapon by their ears.
What I witnessed here was an employee bullying and intimidating new shooters, abusing his powers to eject us out the range. And this employee single-handedly ruined our experience that was supposed to be full of fun and excitement. I will still give credit to the other 4 employees that were welcoming, friendly and super helpful during our time there. 2 of them being Todd and Cindy, the other 2 I didn't get their names, but one welcomed me and helped me with the rentals, while the other helped with trading our rentals.
Patrick’s behavior was not only unwarranted but also detrimental to our enjoyment of the facilities. It’s disheartening to think that the unwelcoming attitude of one individual could deter and ruin first-time shooters from pursuing an interest in shooting sports.
Eventhough 90% of our day was fun and 4 out of 5 of the employees were friendly and smiling, ONE employees attitude and decision destroyed our experience. I will never, recommend TNT to anyone who is looking to shoot for the first time, because nothing can fix this ruined experience that was supposed to be fun. Instead I will recommend them to Doug's, or even better if you're visiting Texas go to Texas Gun Experience. Way better experience, way more full auto choices, way friendlier employees that encourage and enjoy seeing customers have fun for their first time, and most importantly way more flexibility in holding and loading the weapons yourself to take pictures and videos.
I hope this feedback is taken as an opportunity for improvement. An environment that fosters patience and understanding, especially for newcomers, is essential for ensuring all visitors feel safe and valued. You guys really...
Read moreIt's a nice range, but in both of my visits the staff have been far from exemplary. Our first visit I brought a friends SKS, chambered in 762.39. I knew what it was chambered in, and had multiple other guns of either my own or my girlfriends; I am not inexperienced around firearms. When we finished up with our waivers and getting into our lane, we were told to not start firing until they could check something. A staff member brought in a 762x51 round, and then proceeded to lecture us on how some SKSs were chambered in different rounds, and he wanted to make sure. Thanks, but I didn't ask? You delayed us nearly five minutes, to check for something I didn't ask for. Out of curiosity, I looked up how common these 762x51 SKS's were; they're not. They're rare, and again, I knew what the gun was chambered in!
Our second visit went smoothly at the beginning. We had 4 of us to a lane during off hours, as per their range rules. When two more of our friends arrived, we told them to get a lane next to us, and they did, going through the process of giving ID and signing waivers. I didn't notice, but they were not handing their lane card, but told to go to the lane next to us. Around 20 minutes into shooting, a staff member came in, and asked where our card was. We had the original lane card, and I asked my friend where his was, and he responded that he had not been handed one. Instead of dealing with this reasonably, the staff member angrily flat out told us they couldn't be in that lane, and needed to be in our original lane. Only 4 people are allowed to a lane, as per THEIR own rules, listed on THEIR site. Our other two friends were not handed a card, and instead of dealing with it rationally, those two friends were chastised, told they needed to pack up and leave, and wouldn't listen to us. We went to the counter, where they realized they had messed up, and gave us our card, waving us off and saying "don't let me waste any more of your time" with the most sardonic tone I've ever heard from someone working a service desk.
I don't get if it's because the majority of us were women both visits or what, but I will not come back; I do not appreciate being treated as if I'm inept. If I'm bringing in 4 rifles and 2 pistols with multiple hundred rounds of ammo, I know...
Read moreTNT is a modern state of the art range that has a wide variety of lanes for pistol and rifle shooting, as well as one of the few indoor trap ranges in the country, indeed the entire world. It also has a burger joint. This place is one of a new breed of so called "guntry clubs" offering a luxury shooting experience at a premium price.
Despite this however, I hesitate to give it a full 5 stars. If the goal is to be 5 stars for everything, I would also expect five stars for service, which sadly is lacking. On the day that I went, there were 5 staff members just standing around at the counter. But because one person works billing and another person keeps track of lanes and times (with neither telling you what lane you will be in), the proverbial left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. Explaining that I wanted to shoot at the pistol lane first before heading over to the rifle lane was something that went over their heads. This shouldn't have been difficult.
Once out on the range, the RSO with an orange beard would also bother me several times while I was shooting over the lane disfunction, first loudly proclaiming, "we're going to charge you for that extra lane," to which I replied, "yeah, I know." Next, the RSO would throw his ego around and would hassle me for nuisance issues that aren't even safety violations listed on the placard on the wall or during the initial safety briefing. My personal favorite, being in the wrong private booth in the middle of a slow weekday with nobody else there constitutes a "dangerous environment" to other shooters. Sure buddy.
I've been shooting for almost 25 years, and only a few ranges that I've been to have had customer service this mediocre. Finally, I had to ask for my driver's license back before heading over to the neighboring burger joint. That would have been a headache if I left without it. It was nothing at all like this the last time I was here over a year ago. If this place went back to having a knowledgeable, organized, and professional staff again, it could be the world class "guntry club" that it...
