We visit Napa every couple of years and have wanted to do a culinary class on this trip, so while researching options, Playte Kitchen came up and after seeing all those great reviews (and reading many of them) we decided to book a class here. We were simply looking for a fun, interesting experience, thinking we might learn something, we had no idea we’d be learning so much from Chef Matt and attending such an incredible culinary course!

The day we selected was Thai day and he was teaching green curry, pad se ew and mango sticky rice. We thought how authentic can this really be, especially from a chef that specializes in many culinary styles – Well, this was extremely authentic and amazing! Chef Matt has done a culinary tour of Thailand (he’s doing another early next year!) and offered so many great tips that only a true Thai chef would know (such as how to identify the best quality ingredients, differences in using ginger versus galangal root, and many others). He taught us some great tips, like using a mortar and pestle in certain cases, versus a spice grinder.

Then the cooking techniques he provided were very helpful! It might seem intimidating to make these meals from complete scratch (we didn’t use green chili paste from a jar, rather we made it all from scratch ourselves), but he broke it down into phases that made it so easy to not only do for the class, but remember for us to replicate at home, which we plan on doing! He also sent recipes afterwards to ensure we had the “instructions” to do this on our own, especially coupled with the skills he taught us. In the end, we had one heck of an amazing Thai feast! Chef Matt also made us all some outstanding Thai Tea!

We had such an amazing time… we highly recommend scheduling a class with him… such an amazing experience! So much so, that we’re looking forward to returning in a couple of years when we schedule our...

We had the most incredible, unforgettable experience with Playte Kitchen’s Cooking Class in Napa Valley. The day began at a local farmers market, where we hand-selected the freshest produce and fruits — an authentic farm-to-table experience that immediately set the tone for the rest of the day. From there, we were taken to a private, stunning kitchen in the heart of Napa Valley, where the magic truly began.

Under the guidance of Chef Sandi and Chef Matt, we prepared a decadent risotto, learned to bake a pie from scratch, and sharpened kitchen skills you simply can’t learn online. Every step was hands-on, educational, and elevated — blending luxury with genuine warmth. The chefs were not only masters of their craft but also outstanding hosts who made the entire experience feel personal, refined, and unforgettable.

This wasn’t just a cooking class — it was an immersion into the artistry of food, Napa’s culinary richness, and the joy of creating a meal from the ground up. Absolutely one of the best experiences we’ve had in Napa Valley.

For anyone considering it, we highly recommend! I’ll also be sharing a full video reel of our experience on Instagram at @travelvibechasers if you’d like a...

We attended the brunch class and the entire experience was superb. We arrived a few minutes early and were warmly greeted by Chef Sandy with a big smile, tour of the space and an overview. Very organized, clean and the entire experience by both Chef Matt & Chef Sandy was engaging, educational, fun and very tasty.

Both Chef Sandy & Matt were very patient and great teachers; I have to say one of the best learning events I have attended with a great deal of positive energy and glowing spirits. The day after the event we received a follow up email with the recipe/menu packet. Wow, well done! Easy to read and follow with fantastic helpful tips and tricks. Thanks

I would attend another event in a heartbeat as that is how well the class went and how much we enjoyed our time with everyone. From my point of view this is great for families, couples, friends and would be a fantastic event for work groups.

We are looking forward to our next visit to Napa and will add this to our trip plans, Thank you very much Chef Sandy & Chef Matt; a truly...

I want everyone to know about this place. My mother in law and I just had an amazing experience. We attended the empanada class. It was so fun—relaxed, but informative. I consider myself a proficient home cook, but I came away with no less than five pieces of knowledge and techniques I feel confident replicating on my own. Chefs Sandy and Matt very much embody the spirit of Julia Child in that the approach to teaching honors the country of origin (Argentina in this case) but we were made comfortable with our beginner imperfections. The best thing is that now I have a certain amount of hubris and believe I can make a dough with fillings only limited to my imagination and a google search. I can’t wait to go down a rabbit hole learning about all of the different chimichurries I can make! The class ended with a feast that featured the empanadas, three chimichutties, a mixed green salad, a mocktail, and a little sweet for dessert. We are already looking at the calendar for the next class we want to do.
