My husband and I had a pretty bad experience at this 5 Below on 348 South Route 59. I hope all the 5 Belows are not like this place because we do love the products. But my husband felt very hurt when the store manager asked him to leave. How did this happen? Well, he (my husband) greeted the young sales person in a pleasant manner and asked if they happen to have any âold school Razzles.â She made a few grunts and then walked away. A few moments later the manager said that my husband had to leave because he had made her employee uncomfortable and that he had to leave. My husband is a gentle, loving soul. He is also a senior citizen and a US Navy Veteran. I thought to myself, what would happen if it was a very friendly person with special needs!!! (âOh, no, he/she is making me feel uncomfortable"); or if youâre elderly father or mother who treated this employee as if she was their granddaughter (âOh, no, he/she makes me feel uncomfortableâ). There were several witnesses and the witness had protested against the unsubstantiated treatment towards my husband because they saw the interaction between my husband and this young salesperson (by the way, this young salesperson had nothing going on for her anyway, I donât know what she was thinking. I guess in her small mind she thought she had something going on. For heaven's sake, you work at 5 Below!!! GEEZ!!!!). Couple of the witnesses walked out in disgust and said theyâd never shop there again. I had no idea that my husband was waiting for me outside for at least 20 minutes in the cold. If I would have known this happened 20 minutes earlier I would have left the items behind and left the store. We talked about it and my husband said that I shouldnât go back in to confront this personâŚbut my husband was so shaken up. I decided to call the 5 Below at 348 South Route 59 and explained how my husband was treated unfairly to the manager. As I spoke to the manager, it sounded like she did not want to hear my husbandâs side of the story (heâs the customer) and that he had to leave immediately. But the manager was biased towards the employee and sided with her only. So basically, this manager has very terrible managerial skills. She doesn't know how to keep customers happy. The employee couldâve been a bold faced liar. God forbid the manager to ever find another managerial position of this type (or worse yet-political position, ugh) because she didnât know if she was coming or going; or understand diplomacy (working to find a solution) or when someone is lying to her - even her own employee. HOW NAIVE!!! BEWAREđ¤: If you ever shop at this store, don't be friendly, or someone will ask you to leave. I wanted to give a big fat "0," but couldn't in order to place this review, so...
Read moreWe stopped in on 8/4 around 4pm to make a return and buy a few additional items. There was no one by the front, and we started to look around for a bit while we waited for a person to process the return. After waiting for around 10 minutes, I went and asked an employee who was cleaning up some shelves in back to see if she could help. The first thing she said was that there is someone up front ask her. This was in a very rude tone like I was bothering her by asking for help. She then got up complaining under her breath and walked to the front. About halfway there, she again in a almost combative manner said see there she is. I explained that she was not there previously and sorry to bother her. She then proceeded to berate my wife about not having a receipt (the item was a gift) telling us she could not take the return. I could care less about a $3 item being returned, but for goodness sake, if you hate working with people and a simple request for help is too much for you, then please do not work in retail. I only saw two workers and the younger girl was nice and polite. This was a lady, best guess was in her late 40's. I am not sure if 5 below does any training, but if so, this would be a great opportunity to retrain her...
Read moreI'm not sure what it is about these stores, but we love going to them. To this day, we have been to seven of these stores. You literally don't know what cool items you will find. A lot of items are five dollars and under. But they also have a separate section that has items above five dollars. They have a huge candy / chocolate section. Some are retro ones you can't find anywhere else.
A long but funny story. At one store, we found a cat scratcher couch. After we gave it to our cats, they were so happy with it. We were kicking ourselves for not buying more of them. So next time we drove by another Five Below we stopped to check for the couch. Sadly we couldn't find it at that location but they did have a cat scratcher skate board. So we picked that up instead. Not thinking they would like it as much as the couch they liked it even more. So once again we said to our selves why didn't we pick up some extras. Once again, we made it our mission to go to more five below's trying to find more cat scratcher's. We finally came across a store that somehow had more couches in stock. This time we grabbed some...
