Update 2 months after original post: I've ordered from here at least five times now. The first two times. Everything was amazing! The Mongolian beef was spicy but not too spicy! However, the last three times I've ordered from here via Uber Eats where I can't ask for something to be spicy or not, the Mongolian beef was so spicy that it was unpleasant to eat! I completely wasted it and thought that the next time it would be different. Yesterday I ordered on the phone and went in to pick it up. I did my same order but I asked for the Mongolian beef to be not spicy and then it tasted like nothing. I wish there was a happy medium but there doesn't seem to be. I also ordered the general tso's chicken this time as well just to try it out. I asked for the sauce to be on the side because I was ordering it to go to eat at home & I didn't want it to be mushy by the time I got it. Every other place that I've ordered general tso's chicken or sweet and sour chicken with the sauce on the side, the chicken part would come in the white paper Chinese takeout boxes. Generally they are overflowing with chicken so the box is stapled around that and air can get around the chicken so that it's not a pile of mush by the time you get it home. Unfortunately this restaurant gives the fried chicken pieces in a plastic to-go container that is completely sealed. So by the time I got home 15 minutes later my chicken was wet and mushy because it had been sitting sealed in plastic with condensation. I'm not sure how I can order it next time to go so that it wouldn't be that way because you can't ask for any alterations on Uber Eats and kindly asking for sauce on the side. Didn't do the trick in making it edible enough which was sad because I was really excited about it! I did eat the sauce on a piece of that chicken and the sauce was fantastic! It was very spicy but it had good flavor. Since This restaurant clearly makes its food everyday by different people who might have different techniques or use a different recipe. The food is different each time. I just wish there was a way to order it without being rashy or so hot that I can't handle it but still with flavor. Also they don't have barbecued pork fried rice which is my very favorite fried rice. The chicken fried rice is very good tho. One other thing I can say about this place is that proportions are quite large. When I order the Mongolian beef combination plate that includes fried rice and an egg roll, plus ordering the large hibachi garlic chicken noodles, It will last me at least four meals. So though it might be $40 to $50 for that dinner it lasts me 4 meals
Original post I've ordered from here a couple of times. I like that they offer the meals even at night, so I don't have to separately order the protein, rice, and an egg roll. I've gotten the Mongolian beef with chicken fried rice meal every time, plus a large order of hibachi chicken noodles (they were very garlicy and flavorful!). The noodles are probably my favorite anywhere, and that's saying a lot!! The Mongolian beef isn't very spicy. It's a bit on the sweeter/mild spicy side. So if you like spicey Michigan beef, I'd recommend asking for it to be extra spicy.
The Mongolian beef meal with fried rice, an egg roll & a separate large order of hibachi noodles will last me three meals by myself. So, that's about $10/meal. I think it's worth the price.
I've never eaten inside tho, so I can't speak toward the atmosphere of...
Read moreMy husband loves to eat at traditional Chinese restaurants when we travel. Xi'an was not at all busy when we arrived, but quickly filled with families. We ordered the Sichuan spicy fish, stir fried potatoes, pan dumplings and lamb bbq skewers. My husband also ordered a bowl of the beef noodle soup with wide hand cut noodle.
Spicy Sichuan fish: If you do not eat spicy food I do not recommend Sichuan dishes but this was a well made fish dish. This is a whole fish so there can be bones present, but it does not bother me. Very fresh fish, tender, spicy and aromatic.
Stir fried potato: I liked the stir fried potatoes, but they are cut little thicker than I make at home, so they are bit more crisp. Keep in mind if you do not care for crunchy potatoes. Still 10/10 for me.
Jioazi: Homemade jioazi were very good. No dry or tough filling, soft fresh dough and made to order.
Lamb bbq skewers: best fresh, second best ones I've had in a restaurant. Little more pepper would have been ideal for me but the flavor was not lacking at all. Perfect size lamb pieces.
Beef noodle: AMAZING. Such a lovely silky broth. I ate all of the vegetables that come with the noodle (bok choy and woodear mushrooms) my husband said the noodles were great and even brought a lonely single noodle home because it was too good to leave.
Service: GREAT. My hot tea was filled throughout my stay and my.husband had ample drink during the meal
The restaurant is very clean and has lovely wood chopsticks with nice service area. The booths are spacious and comfortable. The tables are not crowded close together.
Update** a previous version of review mistakenly stated a credit card number was taken during the visit. However a second occurrence revealed this was NOT from the physical card number but from a virtual number and had not connection to xi'an. This is actually great news because their food is ...

I used the restroom and the women's room was filthy too -- sanitary bins overflowing, grunge in all the corners. The whole restaurant seemed less clean than our past experiences. This was not the Xi'an that I love. Tried the MaPo Tofu handpulled noodles for the first time. Loved the high spice level but the meal was floating in oil, making it barely edible. My husbands noodles with tomato & egg sauce and the cumin lamb flatbread were both good. Hoping this was just a bad night and things will improve.
Absolutely love Xi'an Cuisine in Naperville. We have had dinner here three times and have never been disappointed. We've had Liangpi, Szechuan Spicy Vermicelli Pot, Dan Dan Noodles, Braised Sirloin with Hand Stretched Noodles, Cumin Lamb Flatbread and Chicken Skewers. All were excellent, quite spicy and served very hot! Things are walked out of the kitchen as they are prepared, so orders may not arrive at the same time but when they do arrive, they have not been sitting on a warming counter.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. It doesn't go unnoticed that the don't assume we want spoons/forks since we are Caucasian; we are served chopsticks like everyone else. Love it! Additionally, the decor is quite nice and bright with a fabulous mural on the wall. I hate TVs in restaurants and there are two big ones here but one is showing a cooking loop and the other, whatever is on, the sound is off. Each night we have gone to Xi'an Cuisine, lots of families have been enjoying meals together. It gives the restaurant a nice energy level. We will keep...
