Warhammer — Local services in Naperville

TLDR: This store acts as a great community hub for the Warhammer hobby. Buy, build, paint, and play the Warhammer Tabletop Games at home or at the store. Larry the store manager is helpful and friendly. My wife and I have had good experiences at this store.

My review: Although I have not kept up faithfully with the Warhammer hobby, hopefully this review will help someone to understand what I understand this store to be. I wouldn't just take my word for it--I would go find out for yourself.

Anyone looking to go to this store needs to keep in mind that the store is based on serving a niche hobby and community. It acts at the local center of community for people who are into the hobby--or for those interested in learning about Hobby. The lowest reviews I see on here are obviously trolling, and it isn't fair to give this store a negative review for it not being something it isn't meant to be.

My wife and I had gotten great customer service from the store manager, Larry. His enthusiasm and passion for the Warhammer hobby comes across clearly as he talks to you about it. I stared with an Eldar Army I had from back when I was a kid, and got my wife a Necron army. I have gotten to play matches of the tabletop wargame in store--shoutout to Cole for being a warm and welcoming member of the community.

This is a great hobby store, and although I haven't been there in several months. I do have great memories, yet sadly very unfortunate memories. The manager running the store, Tobias is a great person, who is very kind, although has a problem with trying to control his own customers/hobbiests. Although his service, and advice has been invaluable. In the words of him, and others in the store have called the hobby store itself, 'A Bikers Bar', as people gossip behind each others back, individuals using such ableist words repeatedly in front of the manager, and the allowance of homophobic behavior from one certain man. I am ashamed that in the past I haven't done much to stop this behavior, that always made me insecure when going to the store, afraid of what they would say behind my back. Even engaging in the rowdy behavior that I should've known better. Since then, I have engaged in another hobby at another store where it's much friendlier, accepting, and open. I do miss this shop along with Tobias the kind manager, but the homophobia, back-talking, and ableism is truly disgusting. I do wish Tobia a great future for he is a great friend and person, but needs to work on controlling his own customers/friends if more are willing to enter this hobby...
