I’m all about tradition and making memories with my kiddos. What I’m not about is blatant animal abuse and neglect. Please reconsider the yearly bunny install. It teaches our children that animals are entertainment. I came into Phillips today for the third time since we moved to Nashville and was appalled to see bunnies and not just bunnies but poorly cared for bunnies. They were scared and I would be too in a loud environment being over handled. Water was low and dirty and there was waste everywhere. I will be contacting local news outlets. Judging by the comments on your instagram, I’m not alone. If you’re reading this, please know that these rabbits don’t have outdoor access and are killed come Easter. Horrific and shameful.
*edit: please don’t believe a thing you read in this business’ reply. I’m absolutely mortified by the ignorance in Phillips response. No ethical breeder would sell their animals in a parking lot for crying out loud. American circuses have gotten rid of animal entertainment yet Phillips would like to remain in the 60s. Please take yourself to Magpies and Katy’s hallmark right down the block. You’ll find a joyful toy selection at both amazing small businesses that don’t rely on animal cruelty to be successful. To the ownership & marketing team at Phillips, we’re still waiting on you to a. Provide the name of this fabulous breeder and b. Give the name of the veterinarian responsible for their care. I urge you to be compassionate, contact local rabbit rescues (there are plenty) & make a better decision when Easter rolls around next year for the sake of the innocent (& terrified) rabbits but also your...
Read moreIt is awesome. Been there yesterday on Saturday. I went there to choose which graduation gift I wanted(yes,I'm an 8th grader). Out of my peripheral vision,I saw a very awesome looking loco(more like 2 locos i wanted),a Lionel TMCC C&O 2-6-6-2 Mallet, and the Lionel Legacy U.P. DDA35,and they were awesome. They had excellent prices, both for over $500. I truly loved that store the first time I walked in over a year ago. I recommend going there. Very great for Christmas shopping and for giving gifts for someone anytime of year,or even buying something for yourself like smoke fluid if you have a Lionel or MTH train with an operating smoke unit. Sorry this is so long. I love this store, you should pay a visit. :) The new 2014 catalog mallet is WAY more expensive than the version I saw,I'd say the 2013-14 price is around $1,200-$2,500 depending on which mallet(Legacy,JLC,or VisionLine)you will buy. If I go there again a day before graduation, and if they have any version of the 4-8-8-4 Big Boy(TMCC 4006,JLC 4023,VisionLine,or Legacy),I will change my mind and totally get the Big Boy instead. You should TOTALLY pay a visit, especially if you have kids. :) Plus the staff are really nice. (Well at least the guy who sells the Lionel and MTH trains was nice) Other than that,very...
Read moreYou will not find an absent minded iPhone absorbed teenager tending the toys here... One of the few remaining dinosaurs of family owned toy stores, these people know toys! They have clearly taken great care in their toy selection, as they definitely have limited space. They have used every square inch of this place to stock a great variety of toys for little bitty tikes up to late teens and even reserved some prime real estate for the train loving kids at heart among us, and they have done it without making it impossible to walk around. You won't be pushing any shopping carts through these aisles but you wont be accidentally knocking into things either. Somehow they have managed to strategically place several little play stations along the way (not the Nintendo kind!) where your little ones can have a hands-on experience with some of their favorite toys. Their niche seems to be having every possible species of stuffed animal and exotic sports car under the sun; good choices...
