An attractive brunch spot with highs and lows, tucked in to one of Belle Meade's strip malls. It's worth your time. The modern interior, with its stylish tile floor and open vibes, is very comfortable. The food we tried was gorgeous, with the salmon toast draped in artfully sculpted watermelon radish and dill, and the quiche presented via a tall robust slice next to a mound of salad. We also tried the jiggly soufflé pancake, which was tasty, light, and fun, though a bit dry vs. the eggy-ness I expected. Big bonus points for the chai-spiced syrup though. On the downside, the egg sandwich on a "Japanese milk bun" was more basic than described. After many trips to Japan, I can safely say this is merely a decent standard brioche burger bun. You need to elevate a lot more to use the "J.M.B." title. Onion jam is always welcome though.
Service was a bit forgetful and slow, though well-intentioned. We had to re-request a coffee, ask for a refill, and for salt & pepper. It's a very young staff and they could learn to be a bit more solicitous. But they are forgiven easily. Overall, the effort to compose a refined alternative to standard west Nashville brunch options is appreciated, and I'll be back to check on their progress. Next time, for the vibes and to try the...
Read moreLet me entertain you with a bizarre account of our experience at this restaurant.
We arrived with reservations for Sunday brunch to celebrate the birthday of our good friend. Someone in our group was kind enough to bring a very small birthday cake with our friend's name on the top. Our server quickly made us aware of a "corking fee" for the cake. That is correct. $4 per slice... $28...to cut our $10 oversized cupcake. We thought they were joking at first but that was not the case. When we told them we were all ordering brunch and would be happy to cut the cake ourselves they told us that was not an option. Then they said they would be willing to store the cake while we had our brunch.
The plot thickens. After finishing brunch, we were having a heartfelt conversation at the table when, mid-convo, the server BROUGHT THE CAKE BACK OUT with a lit candle and began singing happy birthday. Eventually the entire restaurant chimed in to sing happy birthday to our friend. When the song was finished he blew out the candle and the server swiftly walked away WITH THE CAKE. We did not see it again until we left the restaurant and they gave it back to us. The brunch was great and the whole experience, for better or worse, was quite memorable. Some things you just have to...
Read morePrior to leaving Nashville, our friend left a bucket list of her favorite restaurants, and Roze Pony was her decided favorite for good reason. It feels effortlessly chic with impeccable, attentive staff that are lightning fast in reflexes and service.
We went with our friends and young child. They had a kid's menu with crayons at the ready. There are also high chairs upon request. The staff was really understanding of our toddler by putting dishes and glasses to the side. I was pretty anxious the whole time due to just corraling a toddler, but it's always a relief when a restaurant is open to families with young kids.
The service really stood out for how intuitive the staff were and how quickly they were able to serve all of the tables with the same level of high standards. The food was lovely and beauitfully presented. The swordfish in particular was a huge portion and delectable with chimichurri on top. Clean plates all around!
I would say this is a lovely spot for an intimate dinner, or (if you're in the area), an excellent place to become a regular if you enjoy cocktails, wine, or small bites. They have a 4-6pm happy hour for good reason.
Great parking: private, free lot with lots of spaces (on the weekdays, at least). Really...
