Thrift Smart has become a real staple-store in my home. I donāt mind sharing that Iām formerly homeless and when I WAS on the streets, this place always seemed to have the right stuff for survival just about every time I walked in! They had a nice sized cooler one time, an outdoor-rug, and Iāve scored TONS of stuff like backpacks, fanny packs, and other necessities for living outside⦠(not to mention the clothing, of course!) š¤ I remember one time, around the first time I came in with a friend (who was also homeless at the time), and we only had so much money to spend on clothing and what we needed-the staff didnāt seem to judge us for being dirty, and they helped us like anyone else, making us feel HUMAN.š„¹ The manager even came to the counter when we were checking out and upon our disclosure of ourāsituationā, he gave us a pretty hefty discount, too! š Now that Iām housed and living in an actual community with running water and electricity, š, I still shop at Thrift Smart for ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING I could ever need for my home (because they ALWAYS have some really great finds for very reasonable and even sometimes insanely-cheap prices!!!) I just canāt rave enough about this place! Theyāre always so caring and friendly and the store always has the BEST stuff! I donāt even bother going to Goodwill anymore! (It helps to not shop there when you find out where their money ACTUALLY goes and how they seem to use the handicapped as a marketing strategy.)š Thrift Smart always have a sale going on too⦠I would encourage ANYONE AND EVERYONE to donate to this place if ever you have something you just donāt want anymore-you can bet that it will be resold for a very reasonable and respectable amount and the store itself is a non profit so itās a win-win on your tax return! š¤š¼ Thank you Thrift Smart! I appreciate you all and everything that you guys do for our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a customer for years at ThriftSmart. That ends for me today. I have overlooked their overpriced items and purchased way more than I would care to admit over the years. I have donated full bins of items and furniture that sold before I even left the store. What I will NOT overlook is blatant disrespect and an attack on my integrity.
Today, while in the store I found a floral picture. I took it directly from one of their carts they rolled out before it went on the shelf. It was priced at $1.99 - as was many of the wall decor items on the cart. I had a cart full of items - priced significantly more than $1.99 and proceeded to the checkout. The male clerk said that the picture was pretty. I said āyeah and it was only $1.99ā. He immediately said that he needed to get a price check because āsomeone must have changed the priceā¦not saying youā¦but someoneā. So, he calls Rhonda, the manager, up there and she comes up there 5 minutes later and takes the picture allegedly. to the back to the person that priced itā¦allegedly. She wastes another 5 minutes of my time before she comes back and says āthis is a hand painted oil painting and it belongs in the collectible sectionā¦itās $19.99ā. I am no Picasso, but if this was truly a hand painted masterpiece, wouldnāt they have priced it higher than 20 bucks and put it on the wall with the pictures that they have priced for $600ā¦that were also donatedā¦to a thrift store. It literally looked like something you could find at Kirklandāsā¦not the Louvre.
To make a long story short, I left everything there and Rhonda and her infinite knowledge in art historyā¦needs to learn a little something about customer service and not alienating...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've never shopped there, but have donated furniture for them to come pick up. When they gave me a day I asked what time they would likely come and was told they would call with a window. The morning of by 9:45 I still did not know what time I should expect them (all I wanted was a two hour window or so so that I could not be stuck at the house all day waiting). I called Grace and she just repeated "they will call with a time". I waited til almost 1 to call again since I STILL had not been given a time. I specified "I just want to know when to expect them since I have other errands and such. All I want is a two hour or so window o I know when to make myself available to be home. Grace I guess was losing her patience and said "They will call with a time" (rather rudely). I then said the point of a window was to give someone a heads up well in advance so that they could plan accordingly. It wasn't until I said that I was half tempted to call another organization to set up pick up for these items that suddenly, within 30 minutes of hanging up with Grace the truck people called and gave me a 45 minute window. FORTY FIVE MINUTES. "We'll be there between 1:30 and 2:15". Clearly Grace doesn't understand what a window really is or how it works. Calling me 3o minutes before you think you'll be there when I waited all day doesn't really free up any time for me. Next time I am looking to donate I will...
