Hocking College — Local services in Nelsonville

Never coming back, recently withdrawed before completing my two year because I couldn’t take it anymore. They should’ve always made the natural resources program a four year because of how heavy the workload is and how much time us students are in the outdoors. Talked to many people with other majors and it baffled me how some of them they only have 2 online classes or the workload is very minimum. I had switched to my own room both years I attended and stayed in downhour and the housing director at the time Kevin Lowry never seemed to put that I was living in my dorm and that I found out my room both years was listed as vacant because I had maintenance people both years just open my door and try to walk in which is extremely unprofessional and against my privacy and I find that disgusting. Another thing I find disgusting is hearing how some of the teachers behave here and how they interact with the students. I think it is very concerning the news I have gotten about it including inappropriate student and teacher relationships, discrimination, and much more. Not to mention if there is anything wrong with the dorms, maintenance barely ever responds back and I had a friend with a clogged toilet for over two weeks even though maintenance was contacted multiple times. It was so bad to the point they could not stay in the dorm because of the smell. I had also sprained my ankle during winter as I was taking dendrology and had tried to email my teacher multiple times that I could not come to lab but was willing to do any work I could outside of lab. Never got a response for about 2 weeks until I got a response starting off with “I don’t know what to tell you”. Disappointing and extremely unprofessional and I had to pay the price of that class. Also, when I had moved into my dorm this past year, into my own room, they do not clean the dorms well at all prior to each move in, I only used usually once fridge and noticed when I moved in the second fridge had molded grapes, an apple, and old popsicles in the freezer. The room I moved in by myself last year had ash in about every single closet. This campus is also not safe at all, I’ve heard and seen a lot that had happened in the top parking lot and even just the whole campus. I am not satisfied at all with hocking college. If I could give them less than 0 stars, I would. The way they treat their horses in their program is absolutely devastating and abusive in many ways. They are not giving proper care to the horses. Care that is necessary for them. They refuse to retire the older horses who are tired. Hocking is a money hungry, pathetic excuse for a university. Anytime a student has a concern, it is ignored. The people in charge of this university spend more money on their petty needs than the university’s needs. The care of the students and the horses need to be under review as well as the people who are making the decisions for this university. I guarantee that anyone who inspects this university will see that the only people who are getting a benefit from this school are the people who are in charge. If you get nothing else from this review, please shut this horrible place down. They do not care for the students or the animals. They care about money and money only. If you are considering this university, literally run. Go anywhere else. You will not get a good education and you will not be properly cared for. The people they place in charge of dorms are even questionable. They cross boundaries with students and make them feel uncomfortable. The dorms have horrible mold. A pipe recently burst and flooded half the dorms and a lot of students stuff are ruined. The university is not compensating or doing anything for the damages done by the flooding. Parents, if you’re thinking of sending your child here, don’t. They will not be safe or taken seriously by people in charge. This place is overpriced even if none of these problems existed. If you have graduated from here, I pray you find the counseling and help you definitely are going to need after suffering through years...

I put $114 down for Housing a couple months ago but decided I wasn't gonna be going to this college so I asked if I could get a refund and at the beginning of March they said it would be refunded to me by the 16th of March and it was never refunded I have contacted Housing and they have told me to contact Cashiers Office about it and when I call the Cashiers Office they say I need to talk to Housing I'm getting annoyed with these games they are playing then I called them about a week ago and they said they would have to write their boss to handle it and they would call back within 24 hours they NEVER called back and I still haven't received my refund I'm glad I decided not to go here I'll be attending a nice university I got accepted into instead the price is outrageous anyways for being the college this is and also has a lot of bad reviews I've never left a bad review before but this really irritated me that money could have...
