Bought a $3,000 concert euphonium here. It was damaged at school. I called the repair guy twice because the store associate didn't adequately capture the issues with the instrument. (She typed in "bent piston")
Anyway, after two phone calls to the repair guy explaining exactly how it was damaged (stressing it was more than a piston issue), he left it at "I hope to look at it Friday, then probably complete it by Monday or Tuesday of next week. I told him no less than three times not to start work until he called me so we were on the same page with the work...since it was in brand new condition being 9 months old.
I was expecting a phone call Friday to discuss the condition of my instrument and approve a repair plan. Instead, there was a voicemail from the office manager saying, "Instruments fixed and at your sons school for him to start using again". "Normally there is a delivery fee but I looks like we didn't charge you".
Long story shorter, repairs were done that weren't approved, and the instrument came back with stripped threads on the threaded cap holding the piston in the instrument and a still very visibly bent stem from the force of the impact.
There was metallic lapping residue and silver powder all in the threads from being forced to thread on despite the cylinder and probably cap being out of round. There was about a teaspoon of valve oil dumped in there to allow the valve to operate despite being misaligned and still rubbing metal on metal, before being shoved back into the case and unceremoniously dumped at my sons school.
The most disappointing part was the owners response when I told him what happened and told him of the red flags I saw regarding his brass repair guy. Instead of listening and trying to fix the issue with a repair tech that would shove that instrument back together like that, he defended, questioned my facts, and told me how respected his shop was. That's why we won't be back.
I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE ANYONE WITH A BRASS INSTRUMENT REPAIR TO FIND A DIFFERENT SHOP.
To be fair: They are nice, the sales staff is helpful, the instructors are absolutely amazing and the prices...
Read moreWhat a thoroughly wonderful experience I've had with Brighton Music Center. I'm just starting my journey to learning bass guitar. I came in initially to see what BMC had. I was greeted by Cori (sp?) who was very friendly and helpful in holding and feeling some of the various instruments. I'd been looking online, but really felt the tactile element was an important consideration. Boy was I correct. The Squire and Ibenez were both really nice instruments, but holding the Yamaha TRBX 174, it just "melted" into me. I especially appreciated the enthusiastic help and encouragement that Cori provided. I wasn't financially ready to pull the trigger yet. A couple of weeks later I returned and this time, Pat lent his many years of bass playing experience to share how the special features and benefits of the TRBX 174 worked. I felt completely comfortable proceeding and finalized my purchase. During this, Andrew and I struck up a very enlightening conversation about Music theory that opened my eyes to an entirely new element of music. Finally, I was delighted with the value I found here. They were as or even better priced than the online pricing I'd found. I'm really excited to continue my journey with Brighton Music Center. Thank you Cori, Pat, and Andrew for your help you guys...
Read moreI’ve been shopping here for about 20 years and this was the first time I was ever prompted to write a review. The reason I’m writing this review is because I did a google search on amp repair and low and behold, Brighton came up. First off, I can’t give enough praise to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, those folks are the best! I was amazed by the repair bill (or lack there of) but it was in the shop for about a week, which I think is a reasonable amount of time seeing as I handed over a practically dead bass preamp. I was required to pay an initial $50 deposit to have my gear serviced which I can appreciate but even better, was told I would be notified if the cost would be $150 or more. Not even close. I got a text notifying me that the amp was back & in working order and having plugged it back into my rig and testing it myself, you have one satisfied customer. I will definitely be taking my gear to Brighton Music Center for maintenance...
