You try to get vaccinated but find yourself in a place that only encourages social distancing on sign boards but not in practice. You enter this Walgreens that looks almost it just had a fire drill session, looking at how empty it looks. Then as you head to the pharmacist area, the scene completely changes and you feel you are in the middle of Asbury Park. We got here for a booster shot appointment at 5:30 and the busy pharmacists attended to us, got the paperwork completed and got us in for the shot at 6:20. Must commend that the pharmacists Bethezdia and Christine do a thorough job in checking the timings of the first two shots and the booster shot and if they were FDA approved if taken outside of the US. But they are probably understaffed for the kind of crowd they get. Pharmacies are no more just drugs selling and vaccination doing places now and are like Walmart and Target selling everything under the sun. You get everything here except for fruits and vegetables. PS- They had free Government provided N95 masks that were kept near the entrance area as freebies.

I have lived in Illinois and NJ, and this Walgreens on Jersey Ave, in New Brunswick, is the worst that I have experienced. I get medication mailed from Walgreens, in Newark, to the New Brunswick Walgreens. for the past four months, I have to spend nearly an complaining and waiting for the staff to find my delivered medications. For the first three moths, it was found in the Photos Section where Fed Ex deliveries come in. They blame Fed Ex for delivering them there.

However, they should put a sign making it very clear to Fed Ex that when they deliver medications to send them straight to the pharmacy. However, I blame Walgreens, and they need to stop blaming Fed Ex. The moment that medication arrives at their facility, they should do everything they can to make sure that it secured. They should train their staff to check the arrive packages, and if their is a package in the photos section, they should immediately bring it to the pharmacy.

Half of their staff do not see to be fully aware that medications get mailed from one Walgreens to the next, and the procedure for processing and giving the medications to the customer. I have to explain this on every visit.

Today was the fourth month that I had to wait for an hour for the staff to find my medication package. And even then, they were not sure how to process it. I tried to call the pharmacist before I came , and he was not listening. Even worse, he told me that there were no deliveries' on the weekend. Yet, the package was actually there.

The worst part about all of this is that I do not get the feeling that they even care about this monthly inconvenience. Thus, the customer service needs to improve. I feel that the customer service at this store is poor because it is in a low-income African American and Latino community. I lived in Rockford , IL and Edison NJ, for many years, and had no problem with the mail order properly arriving and being secured for me to pick up.

I agree with other reviewers about items being out of stock, long waiting lines, people having to wait forever for someone to come with a key to unlock meds for the customer to buy, overall cleanliness, and the fact that three times, people have asked me for money while I shopped at the. store. I am sure that there are security cameras that see this, but the management just does not care. MCM!= Minority Customers Matter!

Thus, I will be taking my service to the Walgreens on Plainfield Ave, in Edison, which has great customer service. I advise anyone who needs medication mailed to this Walgreens not to do so, and if you have the means, to go to the Walgreens in North Brunswick, Edison, anywhere else, but this one. All of you work to hard to get low-quality customer service based on the zip code in which you live, or your background. And this is the saddest part; the majority of people who work at this Walgreens are minorities themselves. I do not blame the lower rank-in-file; I blame the management of the store and the management of the pharmacy section. I will also complain to corporate and the local councilperson about this pharmacy. Take care every one and God bless!

07/26/2022 Update:

I increased the rating from one star to three stars because the female pharmacy techs are really nice. The red-head pharmacy tech guy is very nice a ptofessional,...

Very suspicious actions by cashier on Tuesday May 2 , 2018 at 2:57 pm ( so they can look up the employee) I purchased a Cabelas gift card along with 2 other items ( toilet paper) & there was a line behind me so I rushed. Cashier never gave me the reciept so because I needed cigs also I returned to the line which apparently made her nervous so that once it was my turn she immediatley hands me the reciept I didnt even realize she had retained. If I had left the store without remembering I needed cigs too I would have never realized & she would have had my reciept. By getting back in line she had assumed I realized she forgot to give me the reciept & forked it over without my even asking because I had no idea!! Realizing I had just almost been ripped off for $50 I went home & googled “ gift card scams at register” & sure enough it came up that the cashier retains the reciept which has the gift card number on it & they can then use it for online or phone purchases. The manager should know about this. She was a young female light skinned black or Hispanic very full figured ( maybe from stealing other peoples restaurant gift card numbers) Hopefully there is a camera which shows me getting back on line & her handing me a reciept before I ever made any additional purchase. After being handed the reciept for the goft card which I should have been handed at the time of purchase not after leaving register & rejoining the que behind two other customers to make an additional purchase. Clearly not the best employee training process here. They finally removed the panhandlers from the entrance that hounded everyone to the point of nastiness & now we have to worry about the employees after our $$$ !! What’s up with this place?? Very nice manager who is really helpful but he needs to watch his cashiers. I may go back tomorrow and let him know about this in person because of the higher dollar amount involved & I am sure this isnt the first time she pulled this. I didnt realize until hindsight so I am sure others may never have put it together at all & just go robbed & embarrassed when their gifts turned out to be worthless. The person recieving might be gracious & never mention that you just gifted them a card that was used thinking the presenter used it. Imagine how that can silently destroy a friendship!!! Almost the perfect crime! How many are going to say to someone “ oh btw that gift card you gave me was used?” They’ll instead think the presenter a cheap jerk that used their gift for themselves. Bravo!! Gotta admire the criminal...

This location is terrible. Not only is it in a bad part of town. The customer service is bad also. First off the parking lot is filled with many many people loitering all day who are drinking or already drunk. Many times I've experienced one of them walking up to my car pestering me for money. They get aggressive also. What I do is if I have to visit this store is get in and get out. Keep your head on a swivel while walking to your car. Get in and lock your doors soon as you can. Gotta be safe in this time of life, so many people pose as "needing help" then suddenly you're getting robbed bc it was a ploy. Anyway the pharmacy is terrible. They are super super slow, the other day I was in line for over 40 min. Bc every single customer has 100 questions and most likely no insurance. The easy solution is go to another location right? Well I can't bc this one is the only one that sells an item I need bi-weekly. They're also quite rude to their customers. Example they changed their policy to "pharmacist lunch break is 1:30pm to 2pm". You'd think they'd keep 1 person on the counter during that time right? Correct that was the case until recently. I walked up at 1:30 and the lady said sorry sir we are closed til 2pm. They now shut down the entire pharmacy during their lunch break. Which to me is insane, bc what if someone needs their blood pressure meds or insulin? And the pharmacy is closed bc they need ti eat their kale salad or whatever. Long review and rant I know. But putting into detail on how bad this place is isn't a short task to type. Don't go here unless you absolutely have to and have no...
