Stopped at the closest auto parts store when my headlight switch failed while traveling. I required the switch to be visually matched not looked up by application which they were willing to do. I'll explain why later. The first one was close, but slightly different. After digging deeper we found the correct one but it wasn't in stock. If I was unable to find one I'd be limited to driving without lights so the employee suggested I try NAPA a couple blocks down the street.
They were very rude, even offended that I was referred by their competition. They also hung up on me several times because they were having telephone problems.
I left napa 3 star rating which was generous, but AutoZone deserves 5 star. Not only were they willing to find me the correct number they seemed more interested in solving my emergency than making a sale. As a retired mechanic I was thrilled to see customer dedicated service like this.
Continue reading if you would like details on why this was a difficult job finding a common part.
My vehicle is a custom built Recreational Vehicle built on a bus chassis. I knew it used Ford wiring and it was a common part in use in 1995 when the chassis was built. However no parts stores have listings for this vehicle, yet it is built with common parts.
Turns out the correct part was first used in 1985 Ford F350 truck.

Read moreI wouldn't have given 1 star, but I had to, to leave a review. I bought a battery at the Kennett Square location and it failed 2x in my car. I had a car tech friend check it and the CCA failed. Upon returning it to the store, along with my receipt and diagnostic results, they checked it and said it had a charge. They refused to accept the diagnosis and refused to give me my money back. When I told him I have to get to work he blew me off. Long story short, I sent a male friend into the store later and he got my money, then they wanted to ARGUE about the $18 battery exchange. Discrimination at it's best. Later went to NAPA a few doors down and had a pleasant experience. Autozone put the bad battery BACK on the shelf. I contacted Josh Haulman the Phl. District mgr, he sent me a lame "template" email. Dear @autozone. Not playing the email game. I gave the district manager name to you and did all this whopla with email I'm going to do. I've already filled out email complaints all I'm going to do. Can someone be a man and stand up to the plate. Don't bother me with this pathetic email back and forth. Josh has my...
Read moreI just stopped in as I needed new headlights. My in laws were kind enough to buy one light from autozone, but I needed to buy another one. I asked the gentlemen if he could help me and he said he didn’t have time and asked if I tried going to a dealership. I said no, they’ll charge an arm and a leg and I just need quick help to replace these 2 headlights. He said they were short staffed and if he has one of his team members go out and help me and it’s longer than 10 min, it causes problems in the store. I looked at him and said it’s just 2 headlights, won’t take 10 min. I’ve been coming to autozone for almost a decade and they’ve always been so nice to help me. And he looked at me and said no it can take longer than 10 min. Horrible customer service. I can’t believe he wasn’t willing to help someone. I ended calling corporate to file a complaint. Hopefully he doesn’t treat any other customers in this fashion and is willing to do his job and...
