Food and prices are good and I would rate this place between 4 and 5 stars. The same for MOST of the wait. They are attentive and friendly. Everyone is in a uniform and it has a very professional appearance. The clientele is also very nice. A great breakfast for 2 is between $15 and $20. Food is served hot. We enjoy everything on the menu for have dined here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I go there at least once per week and often twice per week. There are some steady customers.
I recommend a grilled Arepa. However, if you get one and your dining guests do not, make sure you tell your waitress to bring the other's food out when done. A grilled arepa takes 15 to 20 minutes. If you have everyone waiting for your arepa to be cooked and one person gets a meal that they think is cold, you are going to have a grump to deal with. Wait for the grilled arepa while others eat and all will be good.
As for the wait staff, there is 1 waitress in particular that is a 1 STAR. She is not attentive. Even when she is taking our order she is looking around and she needs to ask everything twice because she just does not pay attention. Additionally, it takes her longer to get drinks, bring food, check if we want more coffee, bring us the check, etc. If you go, this waitress usually has the tables 2, 3, 4, and 5 if you count table 1 as the table closest to the restrooms. Just sit at another table.
Lastly, do not sit close to the door. You will get a cold blast every time the door is opened. And for the people that have to stand in the doorway with the door open as they wait for a table...they have no self awareness that they are disturbing other dining guests. This is usually a weekend thing and the hostess should address...
Read moreThe place was decent. The food was good. The service could have been better. The young lady seemed pre occupied with talking with her coworkers more than paying attention to her tables. She wasn't very interested in making our first time overly pleasantly. We told her it was our first time. Her reply "was ill give you some time" and walked away. I asked for Nutella, among other things on my French toast. She forgot. No problem My wife asked again when she came back with the Ketchup. She still forgot. And then stood 8 feet from our table and watched us eat. I didn't want to ask again. Then once we're were about finished. She finally asked "how is everything for you"..
We said "it was good" then she walked away with our plates and it wasn't until I asked for our bill 6 minutes later that we finally got it. She wasnt busy in that time frame. Just soent it talking with the expediter (who is probably the manager or owner)Overall good experience but I think the servers could use some managing. That way they don't have to complain about small tips. Which in our case we still gave 25 percent because we are in...
Read moreDon’t let the fact that Cafe Americana is in a shopping center prevent you from trying them out for breakfast!! Their food and service rival other restaurants in more historic districts of Kennett Square, and the prices are great!
My breakfast was served on matching white stoneware, and my beverages were in actual glass glasses— not what I expected in a strip mall joint! And, my apple juice came in a full size glass!
The scrambled eggs were just as I like them — “dry,” the sausage was delicious, and the home fries were perfectly fried and seasoned. But the star was the French toast. It was marvelous with nothing but powdered sugar on it! (Syrup pitchers are on the tables, and there are other topping options.)
My server was very attentive, and everything in the restaurant was so clean!
