TL;DR - KoSP is a private club, but well worth it to join! You won’t find a cheaper Guinness anywhere, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Even when I bring my wife and young kids, everyone is incredibly friendly, and there’s almost always something happening on the weekends. I joined about six months ago and plan to stick around. It’s a great local spot for a pint on the way home from work—more boiler suits than business suits, so if you're looking for a casual drink rather than a date-night destination, this is the place. Unlike Trinity in downtown New Haven (sorry, Eddie!), KoSP has a long personal history, and it shows. The walls are lined with photos, plaques, and names of notable members from years past, giving the place real personal character. The bar itself seats about a dozen, with extra seating at round tables and a pair of very comfy leather chairs. They’ve got a handful of beers on tap, strong pours for basic cocktails, and snacks—chips, maybe an oven pizza if you're feeling peckish. Weekdays are usually quieter, with a few regulars, while weekends tend to draw a bigger crowd. There's always some chatter, and striking up a conversation is easy. Members often bring in food to have/share, especially during events. The officers and bartenders go out of their way to make new and younger members feel at home, keeping the club’s spirit alive. On the right night, I can buy myself a drink and somehow end up with another in my hand, thanks to the generosity of others. I’ve brought guests, and they’ve been welcomed just as warmly. Beyond the bar, the clubhouse hosts planned dinners, sports nights, raffles, and community events—there’s always something to look forward to. Whether you're stopping by for a quiet drink or joining in on an event, KoSP feels like a place where you belong.
