Niche Market Furniture — Local services in New Haven

I love this store! In fact I have bought many items from here including a really nice dining room table set among other decorative items. The sales associate whom is usually there that helps me is extremely helpful and insightful on the products they offer. The last visit that I made to the store wasn’t quit as pleasant as it usually is for me and set another tone for the way I feel about visiting the store. I felt like I was being ignored when I first entered the store and rushed when I finally did get noticed. I had inquired about getting a couple furniture pieces built and I was given their card to email the specifications of what I wanted. After I sent the email I was sent back an email stating that their wood worker isn’t taking anymore orders because he is behind, but they could show me some similar products from their vendor. Yes. Beautiful things. BUT the customer service? AWFUL. RUDE. I've never felt so judged and unwelcome. No greeting, seemed annoyed to answer questions, ridiculously condesending when giving answers or information, I could go on. My Mom and my two kids were here twice. The first time we had this experience but my Mom found a table she loved. So we came back, two weeks later, chalking it up to the owner and other gal having an off day (we all have them). So we came back two weeks later with every intention of purchasing the table. After once again feeling completely unwelcome and being insanely rude to my daughter (6yrs old) we left. It's unfortunate. It's a cute store with lovely things. But these girls, especially the owner, need a serious lesson in customer service and possibly do a little self reflection about any racial bias...

I’ve made several purchases at Niche over the years, including bedroom sets, a couch, rug, three cabinets and various decor pieces.
