Trion Tavern — Restaurant in New Haven

I love this place so much. The Trion famously offers 58 craft beers on tap, and the selection changes regularly. They also have a great whiskey selection and offer both beer and whiskey flights for very reasonable prices, and it's definitely worth going here for the selection alone. The food is a lot of bar food with a good selection of sandwiches and burgers, including a solid pulled pork sandwich, "The Pig Sandwich." The atmosphere is very low-key. One of my favorite things about this place is they don't play loud music or (to my knowledge) host live music, so when you want to hang out, drink beer, and talk with your friends, you can actually hear each other. The place isn't often overly crowded, especially during the work week. The only time it gets super crowded is when they have 2.50 beer nights or if something special comes on tap for a limited time, in which the place gets CRAZY. The service is usually fine, and the staff is super personable, but they do get pretty backed up if there's a lot of people ordering food at the same time, so be aware of that. Well I kind of go there frequently usually once or twice a week. I see these reviews of how badly the owner treats his staff and from the customer stand point I don’t see it. A lot of negative reviews and it’s a shame. Every place will have a bad day and if you happened to hit that day and never return it’s too bad. Like I said I go there often yes sometimes they are out of something but their menu is so good any other choice will be amazing. With the economy the way it is you can’t have bulk foods just in case one week everybody wants for example chili. With inflation it’s just not good business sense to throw away food every week. I think most of the complainers are disgruntled employees who would rather look at their phones than work or just show up whenever it’s convenient. Today’s workers suck. The ones they have on staff are professional and courteous and knowledgeable. I would recommend the burgers the pizza wings sandwiches basically the whole menu. So if they happened to be out of a veggie burger with hummus take your blue haired all about yourself and go graze in...

Although the employees were friendly and helpful, the owner was rude and offensive. My husband and I went to trions after the zombie walk down town. We were still in costume. We sat at the bar, ordered food and drinks and began talking to the bar tender and other customers. No one we spoke to was bothered by our attire, most actually complimented us, but when my husband ran out to the car, the owner tryed to stop him from coming back in. When he told him he was already inside eating the owner told him dont worry about the meal just leave. Since they already had my husbands card, they ran it even though they were kicking us out in the middle of our meal. He came in and got me and we left. When we realized they had charged us we went back and requested a refund which he denied. If the issue had been resolved we would have returned for drinks at least although the food was over priced and not very good.
