Dollar Tree — Local services in New Plymouth

10/4/2023 The manager was extremely rude and disrespectful to my 9 yr old son that was looking at a toy he wanted to buy. He tried it a couple times and she BARKED at him asking "are you going to play with it until you break it?" I stepped around the corner and told her that he will try it before he buys it because their merchandise often does not work.

There had just been 4 other children in the same isle looking at toys. She said nothing to any of them, and we had just walked in 5 minutes before she was raising her voice to my son! Who just so happens to be African American. (Hmmmm)

I told her she was out of line for being rude to my child because I was going to buy the toy. Then she started going off on me about "if the item gets broke, then it has to be written off!" My response to her was "yes, and then your store is credited for the loss!"

I have been in Retail Management, and

#1 You ARE NOT RUDE TO CUSTOMERS OR THEIR CHILDREN! 2 IF YOU ARE HAVING A BAD DAY, DEAL WITH IT ON YOUR OWN TIME, NOT YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS TIME! THEY PAY YOUR SALLERY!!! #3 WORD OF MOUTH IS WHAT KILLS BUSINESSES IN THESE SMALL TOWNS! ESPECIALLY WHEN IT GOES TO THE TOP!!!

I like having a combination Family Dollar/DollarTree store in a small town. It’s nice to have a place you can get household items, cleaning supplies and pet food. It’s nice to saves a trip to Ontario when you only need something they carry. I watch the ads and use the Family Dollar coupons and if you go on Saturday, you can save an additional $5 if you spend $25.
