Only our 1st day, but very nice festival. We are camping on the grounds. Like any festival type camping sites are not spacious but not packed either. Unlike last year; there was a lot more 50 Amp and 30 Amp sites. Make sure to bring a 50A to 30A or visa versa converter. 2 sites share electrical. So if your neighbor claimed the 30A and you need 30A; you will have to convert the 50A to 30A. Last year we shared electrical with 3 campers and we got stuck with 15A. We also needed 150 ft of extension cords. Thanks to a friendly neighbor who lent us an additional 25 ft of extension cord we had electric for small appliances and only needed generator for a few hours a day Ended up using our generator to run AC for dog. This year came more prepared but we were surprised they added a lot more electrical pedestals. Can't wait for the rest of the festival the next 3 days. There are no showers so you will have to shower in your rig. There are Porta potties and a few regular restrooms. They also have a dump station and potable water. They ask for a $5 donation. $150 for 4 nights. Venue is...
Read moreI came from out of town to enjoy the relaxed Covid restrictions. I moved out of New Ulm back in the 80’s but I always came back every year to enjoy the summer festival. Years ago it was called Polka Day and then Heritagefest. I will no longer be coming back to my home town to enjoy this festival. It was one of the worst experience I have had. When I get to the gate I find that the price to get in is $25. I paid reluctantly and went in thinking that I would be able to enjoy the music, food and be able to walk though the vendors. But none of it existed. There was one vendor one stage with music that had a cover band from Stillwater playing. So the food, one thing that I have always loved about my hometown has been the amazing food. This was one of my biggest disappointment. The only this that tasted homemade was the sauerkraut. The other items , what you could find was mini donuts and ice cream. It make me feel bad that my memories of the festival are just that...

But there really isn't much to do. Yes, they have the tent with the different Polka bands, which was neat to listen to for a little bit and another pavilion where another band is playing and people can get up and dance. Fun to watch the different waltzes and polkas for a little bit. But beyond that not much to see. The biggest highlight was watching the barrels races. The commentator was...
