1+1 Salon — Local services in New York

I've been here twice, and the two times I've been here were very good. It was the same barber who cut my hair both times. For the first time, I wasn't sure if he knew what I wanted or could follow my directions through, but in the end, both haircuts he gave me were nothing short of amazing. I liked the haircuts he's given so much that ever since that last cut I got here three months ago, I couldn't be sure of anyone else to touch my hair (which would only be confirmed when the cut I got in KTown recently was a disaster).

Unfortunately, last month when I was thinking of coming again, I wasn't sure if that barber was still here. I lived too far away and was too busy to come by myself to check, so I tried calling them to find out. Since I didn't have his name, I tried asking them to send me photos to confirm that he still worked here. They weren't too receptive about this and never sent me anything to help me. Fortunately for me though, I finally found that barber. (I think he works in Chinatown now, at least I last saw him there. If he really does work there full-time now that would suck for 1 Plus 1 Salon!)

Although they weren't too cooperative on the phone in helping me confirm my barber, I must say that the two times I had my hair cut here were quite positive and satisfying. The staff in general (besides when they're on the phone) were also very friendly.

Minus one for unfriendly and unhelpful phone service, and just average atmosphere...

I had made a general appointment no stylist in mind. Came in no wait, greeted by friendly staff and the woman who washed my hair was very thorough and relaxing. They paired me with the stylist Ben. I speak minimal to no mandarin but I could understand the language for the most part. He took his time to look at my hair and had walked me through his assessment. I showed him the style I was looking for and he was able to replicate it perfectly. Each process he walked me through what he wanted to do and confirmed with me if that’s ok. With the damage of my hair he walked through how he can maintain the length I want but also help cut the damage off and make it healthy again. last time at this place ! The hairdresser (named paul) is super nice and accommodating.

The reason for not going again is the lady at counter who is worst - she charged my card thrice and without informing me she wrote all the information of my card. She didnt explain why. When i confronted her she didnt answer. When i asked i want her to cancel my card number, expiration date and cvv number- she didnt. When i cancelled my cvv number she got loud for no reason. Didnt give me receipt even if i asked for it and charged me more than the last time! She wrote my full name, cvv, expiration date and card number.
