Egg and seaweed soup is bland, string beans are weirdly sweet, and fried rice is greasy. The mayo on the fried shrimp and broccoli is disgusting. The Peking duck is okay if you get the skin but otherwise it’s dry.

I am Chinese and I grew up going to authentic Chinese places where service is bad but food is good. Normally when people leave bad reviews for a Chinese place complaining about the service, I actually get more excited about the food. I love that sort of place. But Pacific Palace does not simply have “bad service.”

Even if you call and explain in Chinese that you will be coming from a funeral and bringing flowers, management will have the heartlessness to berate the grieving family about getting rid of the “ugly” flowers. Yes, even if you are in a corner that is sectioned off from the rest of the restaurant by curtains.

Oh! And if you ask to discuss the situation separately, away from the parents dealing with such loss, management will literally refuse to move away from them. They will actually insist on yelling about it in front of a family who is grieving. I wish I was kidding. Again, it doesn’t matter if you called multiple times to tell them it was a funeral reception.

And if, for whatever reason, you still decide to make a large reservation and pre-order food, do not believe the price Ms. Huang gives you. Not only is there a significant up-charge from the menu prices, but they’ll also ignore the number of tables you explicitly requested and put out more. Then they will charge you extra for the table you didn’t ask for, lie and pretend to have amnesia when you show them screenshots of your earlier conversation, and then refuse to accept anything but cash (definitely not suspicious or tax evasion-y).

Come to Pacific Palace if you want a mediocre meal and if you want to experience cruelty and heartlessness from management who knows about your loss and simply does not care. Come to this restaurant and see firsthand the trickery and greed that the owners will deploy just to get some more money from you in a time of sorrow.

This isn’t “bad service” it is straight-up bizzare how psychopathic it is. Good luck to you if you decide to eat here, you WILL be taken...

TRASHY EMPLOYEES! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!

I went here with my daughters class for a Chinese new year field trip. The class paid $13 per child for a meal. I told the manager (who didn't see to understand much English) that my daughter had a health condition and that I needed to order something different for her than the other kids were having. He gave me two menu's. I ordered something real simple off of the lunch specials, white rice with sauteed broccoli for my girl (who is 6 like the other kids) and a fried rice with chicken and broccoli for myself. I expected to receive a bill for $13 per person like the other kids or at the very least the prices on the lunch special menu. I got a bill for $53 DOLLARS!!! I explained to the manager that I only came with $30 and I mentioned that the agreed upon amount was $13 per person for the meals at this event and that he should have told me before making the food that it was going to be so much extra, it was wrong for them to just spring a large check on me at the end. And I also pointed out that there lunch specials weren't even that much. The waitress starts YELLING and making a huge scene around about 120 1st graders and there teachers and parents, saying "OH he showed you this menu you new the prices (Pointing to the large menu) I was trying to explain that he gave e two menus and that I ordered my meal off of the lunch specials and that my kids (again just white rice and broccoli) should have been $13 and she jest kept yelling "NO, NO!!! He show you this menu!" pointing to the larger one. So the I just pulled the smaller lunch special menu I'm holding in my hands out of thin air? It's not my fault that they did not communicate the cost before hand and it's not my fault that his English was poor and apparently did not understand when I said lunch special.

This was the most appalling experience I have ever experience in a restaurant. YELLING at me loud (like over powering my voice so much she couldn't or wouldn't hear what I was trying to explain) over $23 difference for a group of over 120 people!!! TRASHY EMPLOYEES! WORST CUSTOMER...

PLEASE READ A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE!...after reading the reveiws of this so called best chinese resturant on the planet me and my wife decided to take a shot at this place. first off i dont know what or how zagart is getting paid off with there ratings but someone is getting greased here. this was the worst place ive ever eaten at and by far the dirtyest. this place is for the chinese and the chinese only! this is not a freindly american chinese place to eat strickley chinese. we ordered the so called famous dim sum platter (comes out cold) my wife spit the food in a napkin(mystery meat or something) then we order the ribs smelly(old) almost burnt tasted one put it down. then we order there peiking duck... it came out in 5 minutes? how can that be? the duck was old and pre cooked or something and was just heated up disgusting! this was just the food part rude waiter and waitress when we asked for forks and knifes they looked at us like we were crazy then to boot the english language does not fly well in here...THEY DONT UNDERSTAND YOU WHEN YOU TALK!..on top of everthing else place was so dirty glasses, dishes, you name it....zagart rated? we cancelled all the food we ordered paid the 30 dollars that was spitted out and left. we are from staten island orignally from brooklyn (italian) and we know food. jade island on staten island blows this place away because its and CHINESE AMERICAN RESTURANT! the best chinese white glove service on the planet is CHIN-CHIN in nyc. you want to take a chance like we did after reading the reveiws go ahead but you will be sorry unless your eyes are a liitle slanty and like mystery meat and down right dirty place. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ROTTEN SLUM AMERICANS (just like the outside when you walk in) p.s I never write reveiws but if can stop one hard working american from coming here that would make my day......im also calling the better bussiness burea and nyc board of health...

Top 9 Dim Sum Spots in NYC You Can't Afford to Miss
Tommy ZhengTommy Zheng
The atmosphere was phenomenal. They repurpose an old bank and kept the beautiful architecture. The dim sum was delicious. The cart ladies were fast and attentive. Always around when we were low on food and personally brought out fresh items to our table when they were out of it on the cart. Although, there were 3 points of dissatisfaction. 1 being that the how elegant the place looked, the silverware and plate settings did not match. They were plastic and paper plates, one and done kind. 2 their beef short ribs was overly peppered and the meat was very dry even though it was smother in oily sauce. And lastly 3, the bathroom was not well maintained. Though better than most dim sum places bathroom. With that, it was loud and lively when we first arrive from all the other tables, but soon once everyone left, it got eerily quiet and not as welcoming. With all that said, overall it was a great experience. Most all of the food was delicious and decent sizes for the price. The decor was elegantly beautiful. And the service was prompt and attentive.
