I went in for toilet paper and saw the Scott toilet paper on sale for $10.99 so I decided to buy it. I get to the register and tell the cashier that it’s on sale and to please use the store card. She scans my item and then the store card and I look up and see $11.99 instead of $10.99 so I ask her why and she says it’s the tax. I didn’t want a confrontation because I was very confused so I just gave $12 cash and left with my item, my change and my receipt. What’s the point of the sale price if the tax brings the price of the item back to the regular price of the item??? (Sounds like a scam) Because you’re not actually getting a sale or bargain. As soon as I get home I did a google search and see that paper goods are not supposed to be taxed in new york city. This is disappointing as I have been a regular customer for the past 3 years since Ive moved to the area. I have the ability to drive to another store if I have to for sale items, but there are others that do not have the option to do so. I don’t want to stop shopping at your store but I am disappointed. This isn’t my first issue with pricing problems, but I never said anything because I don’t want the staff to be upset with me. Please do better Ctown! Your store supports the local neighborhood. Please don’t tax items that shouldn’t be taxed. Others may not notice and may not ask due to the cashiers sometimes being possibly unfriendly or defensive. Thank you!

Next up on finding the best grocery store chicken in the world is C-Town. They are the 5th largest food retailer in the NYC metropolitan area, and a whole chicken ran $10.99. It’s right next to the courts me and my homies play basketball at, so we went in post hoop, bought a bird, and brought it to the park. No better post game meal… I rigorously washed my hands though don’t trip. This bird had been pretty hyped up, but it ended up letting me down a bit. Final score was a 7.2/10, as it was just a middle of the line chicken. Idk, I think it had been sitting for awhile if we are being honest. Breast was a bit dry, leg was middle of the road, skin was a bit soggy… but we ate the whole thing. It was solid. It got the job done. I imagine if fresh, this Tissi could crack the 8s. 12/10/22 Update, stars has been downgraded to a 0; went to the supermarket today to grab Mozzarella Cheese and Ricotta cashier rang me up, an elderly lady came to the cashier and asks her "are you open?" (booth light was off) she rudely responds with "I just rang her up", the lady asks her again "are you open?", she responds again rudely; at this point I intervene and say she doesn't know if you're open or not as your light is off, all you needed to do was answer yes; you have poor customer service. I spoke to the "manager" a true waste of time for he said he would inform the manager (I asked him who the manager was he said that's not important, I pointed out to him that wasn't what I asked and that he just displayed poor customer relations/service); he stated he would speak to the cashier later, the cashier proceeded to mouth off about "why did she say anything you'll are not together, why you worried about it? "Manager says "Rosie stop" she says no! I said "see she was just rude to you", like she was rude to that lady (pointing at the elderly lady) Rosies is in the background mouthing off "every time you come to my booth there's a problem", I said yes when you became inpatient and tried to be rude to my senior neighbor a few weeks ago, I corrected you on your attitude and behavior. The elderly woman waited and thanked me. As of this updated post I will no longer purchase anything from this supermarket, I will spend my money where there is good customer service. There have been a few times when customers were short on money, card didn't work, brought the bare essentials; etc, etc and I would step in to pay the bill or tell them to get more groceries I'll pay for it, I will continue to do this but not in C-town. 2 is the true rating. Convenient because it's across the street, run in grab what I need for the moment or dish I'm making, it is NOT the "shopping" supermarket for me. It's clean and stocked decently; the issues are... The fruits are bad a majority of the time, the vegetables have their bad times too but not like their fruits. They recently put in a Deli, that was a waste of space as none of the Deli personnel (they have been through a number of people) know how to cut the meat thinly; first they blamed the slicer but supposedly got a new one and still they can't/don't cut the meat/cheese as requested (if I wanted thick meat/cheese I would buy the packaged deli meat or sliced cheese). As I said to each person (got deli meat 3 different times/3 different people) don't display a cut chart if you can't cut it as displayed/ordered. There is a clique of cashier workers (older women), this store has a HIGH turnover in terms of their cashiers; there have been some younger ladies working there but they don't last (asked 2 of the young ladies why aren't they working there, was told because of the rude managers; I could believe that). I've never seen an american non speaking Spanish brown/black person working there in any capacity, everyone there is of Spanish/Mexican nationality with the exception of one lady (I believe she may be Indian, I haven't seen her in a while). The Bottle return machine always has issues "Code Not Readable", it's all water bottles from the same case of water. They need to have the machine serviced and cleaned. The manager (older man with glasses) will try to be rude and walk off as he is responding but stop him in his place and let him know that his action is RUDE and he isn't displaying management or professional qualities to a customer, he'll apologize and try to brush it off by playing nice. As they are independently owned/operated their price gouging during the COVID-19 on surge was ridiculous and some of that price gouging is still going on.

Luckily there are many more supermarkets in the area, if you want your Deli meat sliced as you request it go to Associated, if you want great sales go to Keyfood Ave A and 4th Street (it's a good walk or bus ride or Shop Fair Ave C and 4th Street (not meats); there's also other...

in this supermarket they have good and very good food to buy like whole baked chicken and other latin foods like Pork Fried Chicharones, Empanadas, rice and beans and other hot foods that they are selling these days about 8 months ago and also they sell cold food like different type of salads like seafood, pasta and other type of salads, sandwiches and other cold foods also in this supermarket they changed the tables, cabinets or armorie to put or place the merchandise of foods where you go and check out to buy the you want to buy also the cealing is a different color also in black with it's white bright lights, but now a days the ice creams in the ice cream section some of the "Breyers" brand name ice creams in "Neapolitan" flavor that is a strawberry, chocolate and vanilla flavor ice cream that is also "Low Carb" and probably low sugar has a strange or weird flavor when you eating it on that specific ice cream flavor where it taste old like it is expired, also it taste kind of sour or little bitter in some parts of this specific ice cream where I think that ice cream is old, this ice cream was only $4.99 where there is other ice creams more expensive like the "Lactaid" brand name ice cream and other brand name ice creams if you check out those icecreams like in other food stores and supermarkets, I don't know how much this "Breyers" brand name ice cream cost the next days in this C Town store, I think contaminated ice cream is not good for your health to eat probably someone ruined this ice cream on purpose or...
