Deer Baby Photography — Local services in New York

If you have a kid that needs photographing, Maggie should be at the top of your list for photographers. We recently hired Maggie from Deer Baby Photography for maternity photos, requesting that they include our three year-old and dog. Before she even arrived, Maggie had some great suggestions, including telling the toddler a friend was coming to take pictures in advance and showing my kid a video of Maggie photographing so that Maggie would be a familiar face. This worked incredibly well.

The entire session, Maggie knew just how to engage everyone, managing to get group photos, individual photos, and the (extremely rare) photo of only my partner and I. I planned to give Maggie a five out of five stars based on interactions with during the session alone. And then came the photos! I was absolutely blown away. They were so much better than anything I could have imagined, managing to be beautiful and heartwarming while appearing natural and spontaneous. I truly cannot recommend Maggie and Deer Baby Photography enough. I am so grateful that she was able to work with us and capture such a special moment...

They did a great job with the time they spend on photos with you . I would just recommend reviewing them with the photographer prior to them leaving on a visible I pad or computer before they leave . They definitely do the quantity , but if you are relying on them checking each photo prior to departing the photo shoot , they won’t do that. And once you receive the photos , it is as is. They won’t reshoot unless you re-hire them. My experience was we had a wonderful experience with the session, they spent a lot of time with the photography . She spent more time then normal , Unfortunately one of the most important photos of our son and immediate family , they did not have my new born sons face in it . And when asked about it , they won’t reshoot without rebooking another session . My opinion make sure to double check there work before they leave . The quantity is good , just double check the quality . The owner will use the quantity and time spent as leverage , and will say wen can’t do another shoot to fix any errors or mistakes. You will have to book a second session .

We had maternity photos done with Anjola, and WOW! The whole experience, from first reaching out to Deer Baby to our phone call with Anjola and the photo shoot, was just incredible. While my husband and I are not really "family photo session" people, I knew I wanted to have good, well-angled photos of me during this time (not just random candids from holidays by family!). We just received our photos back and I am blown away by the results. I feel like I look how I'd want to look all the time! Anjola totally got our vibe and helped us feel comfortable and natural, and it really came through - even my husband, who really isn't into posed photos (but truly indulged me in this), looks comfortable and handsome as ever. As far as the company, they are responsive and easy to converse with, and the prices are the best I found in the city. They focus on making everything feel and look real and natural at home, not overly dramatic in a studio (which if that's what you want, fantastic, but fans and gowns were not for me!). We can't wait to welcome our little one and get our newborn photos...
