L Train Vintage — Local services in New York

Store on St. Nicholas: Normally my daughter and I love this store as do many of my friends. There is always a nice selection of clothes. Recently my daughter and I had an unpleasant, unwelcoming experience. We previously had purchased an L Train reusable bag and brought it with us to put the items we were going to purchase. Upon entering, two of the sales girls told my daughter she had to check in the bag. I explained the bag was empty, from the store and was being used to hold items . The sales girls were insistent that we had to check the “ empty bag “ . I understand that there is a lot of theft going on in stores these day but I believe that was too extreme. I also didn’t mention that the previous time I was there the cashier was constantly looking at us and made us feel very uncomfortable. I do not appreciate being profiled as a potential criminal and will not be returning. I will also inform my friends and family who shop there of these incidents. I hope management reads this and considers retraining...

The place does have a distinctive wet dog smell, but I always manage to locate the pieces I need. I can spend hours here without getting tired. I would recommend exploring their other stores, although you won't notice much variation in the items they offer. These chain shops tend to have a set selection of items, and if you know what they typically stock, you know what to expect.

I appreciate that the staff is Hispanic, which I love. They may not always be available to assist you since they are usually quite busy. Nonetheless, I would recommend shopping here if you're on the hunt...

Been coming here since 2011 unfortunately the gentrification of the neighborhood and vintage has skyrocketed which makes this place highly in demand. I have to dig longer and deeper and harder to find that diamond in the rough it takes me a little longer not like the old days but the place has a lot of good stuff.
