I am a mother of a student at Rachel Carson High School (521 West Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11224). A year ago, I contacted the Department of Education regarding the Specialized School Admissions Test (SHSAT). The staff provided different answers, and I also received a message through myschools, which turned out to be information about an open house, not an exam.
In addition, my daughter is not receiving programming and math lessons, which are very important for her future.

Read moreVery unfriendly staff. It's a welcome center where you as a parent are NOT welcome. My child has a severe asthma problem and needed transfer to another school which was close by our house. Visited twice to this welcome center for help with all the details, medical records and doctor's note stating how serious this situation is and her recommendation for close by school but this welcome center right away said they can't help us in this matter. Me and my wife requested them, even begged them to help us but nope, they can't do anything. I asked them who can and there're like, we don't know.
