I had my Bar Mitzvah here back in 1987. Really beautiful Synagogue, but we mostly did it to please my grandparents, since they were Orthodox (I was just waiting for the big reception party with friends and family back at our house following the ceremony) & my parents raised my sister and I VERY secular (they didn't even make us go to Hebrew school either) and we were free to make up our own minds regarding Judaic practices and worship. I also attended high school nearby at Edward R. Murrow, so I always would pass by EMJC on my way to and from school. The staff is friendly and kind. There appears to be a lot of activities for children and I often see kids and families coming and going. These families seem to be from every race, religion, and creed. I'm believe they also have an African church group that uses the space on Sundays (or at least there seem to be a lot of people with African accents).
