The providers at this practice, although well mannered, are not the most competent. I went in asking to be put on PrEP, an initial blood screen was ordered. When the results came back, my liver and kidney health markers were elevated. I explained to the provider that this was because I had lifted weights the day prior and that I want to get them retested after three days off from the gym. I had my blood work redone and my kidney/liver values came back normal except one marker, my ALT, which was still elevated. I proceeded to find a pubmed study which stated that liver health markers are typically higher in athletes for up to seven days after their training and that despite this, their livers are still healthy (when the muscle breaks down, AST and ALT are released into the blood stream, this is why those markers are elevated, not because of a defunct liver). Anyways, I was told to take a few weeks off from the gym and get them redone. This was a nonsensical prolonging of giving me a prescription due to what I outlined above, especially because I was at high risk.
Additionally, PrEP mainly affects the kidneys, not the liver (my kidney health markers were normal the second time my bloods were done). The kidneys are considered the most in this evaluation because PrEP is processed through them and they are not nearly as regenerative as the liver. The NP was worried I may go into liver failure from PrEP with a slightly elevated ALT; and while I appreciate the concern, that event has not been recorded in the entire history of this drugs development.
Furthermore, if there was true concern, an ultrasound of my liver could have been performed instead of continually retesting my blood.
Additionally, the providers didn’t know what “PrEP on Demand” was. That is very scary, how can these people be evaluating patients blood markers to determine if they should be put on the drug when they don’t even understand one of the most common ways of administering this drug? “PrEP on Demand” is one of the first methods you learn about when starting to study PrEP (Truvada only).
My last complaint, after the third blood work script was ordered, I had to call back twice in order for the NP to actually write me a script for the blood work she said I needed to get.
Luckily I found a new provider that knew much more about the drug and evaluating blood work.
Note: Observe the providers response below. I was not rude in any way, I simply outlined the reasons behind the offices incompetence. Instead of taking my feedback and using it to improve, they instead decided that a snarky remark was of their better interest. If what I’m spreading is truly misinformation (it’s not), then go through my points and debunk them. If you were to do that, I would happily give a 5 star review as a consolation prize due to the fact that I was in the wrong. However, they could not do that because they know that what I’m saying is true. The best they could do is muster up a sassy attitude instead of taking an evidence based approach towards refuting the “misinformation” that I had supposedly spread. Please educate your providers better and lose the ego! It’s not good...

Don’t worry, I won’t threaten to “sue you for slander” as you do to your patients. If you are unhappy I suggest you find another profession, I understand it’s tough working in the medical field.
Super disappointed with my experiences here. Some of my visits have been great and worked smoothly, especially when they had an outstanding gynecology NP on their team who unfortunately no longer works there. I’ve worked in the medical field for several years, from hospitals to private practices. I’ve seen it all, yet it’s disconcerting to witness and be subject to the manner in which they communicate to their patients and run their practice. Their tone can be demeaning and condescending and trying to communicate with them over the phone can be outright infuriating.
Compared to other practices that I’ve been to, their practices and behavior give off the impression that they prioritize their income more than the wellbeing and satisfaction of their patients. For instance, I was seen by a PA- super nice- and was advised based on my symptoms to see a gastroenterologist, for which I made an appointment. I waited several weeks for this GI appointment and did not know until I checked in that they were supposed to provide me with a referral. I called the office and thought they would realize their oversight and quickly email me or fax over a referral. Instead, I was met with resistance and refusal to send the referral due to my chart lacking any notes of GI complaints. I had to explain the situation to the front desk several times only to be met with hostility and their insistence that I needed to be evaluated once again and pay another copay just for the referral. I had to ask- literally beg- to talk to a provider. They insisted it wasn’t in my chart despite the discussion of my GI symptoms with the PA during my last visit. Why else would I be standing in this gastroenterologist’s waiting room? Also why aren’t these notes in my chart?
That was just one infuriating and stressful situation with this practice and not the only time a lack of notes in my chart has led to me having to be seen again. You can see for yourself how they respond to a patient’s disappointment and criticism in these reviews. Zero accountability on their part. I would not be surprised to see the same under my review. I would come to this practice with caution if you have...
Read moreMy wife and I are extremely disappointed with the office staff at EG Healthcare. Despite their friendly demeanor, my wife has experienced consistent incompetence and poor communication.
Her concerns and requests are often ignored. She had to call multiple times to obtain documents or prescriptions, only to be told that no one knows what happened to my requests. I myself had to join because she was so upset to resolve a prescription issue.
Recently, she informed the office twice about changes to our insurance. They assured her that her information had been updated, but when she arrived for the appointment, she was told that the doctor no longer accepted her insurance. This was not communicated to us beforehand, despite our previous conversations. She was clearly upset and was told to calm down by the office personnel. Which infuriated her even more, for they clearly disregarded her feeling and concerns. Then she was told she could still see the Dr. For a 75.00 dollar charge and what were else to dr deemed necessary. At this point, her blood pressure hit the roof. Why couldn't they give this information to us before we show up to the office. We woke up early this morning and drove through snow to get here on time. This is what we are talking about the total disregard for patients. She left that office truly upset but not before she gave them her 2 cents!
She had already expressed her concerns to Daina, who apologized and promised to address the issue. With previous events. However, with this one, we are putting our complaint in writing to ensure that the owner is aware of the problems she allows to fester in her office.
It appears that EG Healthcare prioritizes profits over patients. To add insult to injury, they're charging me a $40 cancellation fee for their mistake.
We are done with EG Healthcare. We will filing formal complaints with the Department of Health and JACO. Now we have to find another dr who will address our health concerns and my health issues because EH Healthcare has lost its...
